collapse expand iconDescription

The D'Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom electric guitar strings provide a versatile tone that suits any genre. Made of nickel-plated steel, these roundwound strings deliver a bright, balanced tone that cuts through any mix. They're engineered with D'Addario's proprietary Hex-Core technology for unmatched consistency, feel and intonation. Whether you're shredding solos, chugging power chords or crafting atmospheric swells, the EXL125 set has you covered.

Versatile Nickel-Plated Steel Produces a Balanced Tone

The nickel-plated steel wrap wire gives the EXL125 set a versatile, balanced tone that works for any genre or playing style. The nickel plating adds warmth and depth, while the steel core provides clarity and definition. Together they create a tone that's not too bright or too warm—one that sits perfectly in the mix for any application.

Hex-Core Technology Ensures Flawless Performance

Like all D'Addario strings, the EXL125 set is built around their proprietary Hex-Core technology. The hexagonal core stabilizes the wrap wire, preventing unwanted movement that can cause tuning instability and dead spots. The result is a string that feels, sounds and performs flawlessly, gig after gig. Consistent tension also means consistent tone and playability along the entire fretboard.

Made in the USA to D'Addario's Highest Standards

D'Addario strings have been made in the USA since 1974. The EXL125 set is crafted at D'Addario's string manufacturing facility in New York to their most exacting specifications. Decades of experience and state-of-the-art equipment combine to produce strings renowned for unparalleled quality and consistency. When you buy the EXL125 set, you're getting strings built to professional standards from a company devoted to serving musicians.

The Perfect Balance of Tone and Playability

With gauges ranging from 9-46, the EXL125 set offers a perfect balance of tone and playability for most guitarists. The lighter top strings provide clarity and definition, while the thicker bottom strings produce full lows. Whether you're shredding, strumming or crafting soundscapes, this set handles it all.

The gold standard of consistency

I switched to D'addario XLs years ago. I went through a period where I tried every string I could get my hands on. But it seemed like every time I found something I liked, they'd stop making it after 6 months. I knew D'addario's had been around forever, so I tried them and never looked back. Great tone and the definition of consistency. And I know they'll always be around.

Broke within one week on a full step bend

The high e broke within one week on a one step bend. I was also really feeling it then on a Bm blues track, which really sucks. Maybe I got a bad set, but I don't know.

I use these on all my electric guitars. PRS, John Petrucci, Gretsch, Les Paul, Stratocaster, Telecaster. They are well priced and function well. I highly recommend them. They also come in the new Highbred gauge.

These strings sound best with my strat. It could be a balance of the strings themselves reacting to the pickups
