Carl Martin

collapse expand iconDescription

So you're out on a gig playing both acoustic and electric guitar, and want to use the same effects pedal board, but don't want to keep plugging and unplugging your instruments. The solution simple, thanks to the Carl Martin Route Box footswitch. The double A/B footswitch pedal routes 2 guitars to either of two amps. Simply connect the 2 guitars to the Carl Martin Route Box's instrument inputs, and plug the route box output into your pedal board. Connect the pedal board into the Route Box input, and back out to your amp. You can even plug into an additional amplifier for even more control of each instrument's sound. The Carl Martin Route Box's amp select footswitch keeps the two instruments, two amps, and one pedal board routed and dedicated.

Carl Martin Route Box A/B switch was purchased new. Out of box performance is flawless. Switching is soundless... no scratching, squealing, etc.. A/B routes together two amplifiers, Mesa Road King and a Fender Jam. Any two guitar combination (Gibson's/Ibanez) used in performance, performed very well. The Carl Martin RB is highly recommend for semi as well as serious work.

I just purchased the Carl Martin Route Box and have now had an opportunity to integrate it into my pedal board and give it a thorough evaluation. I play both electric and acoustic guitars in a blues band, using two different amplifiers. I wanted to use a single Boss TU-2 tuner for both guitars and make guitar/amp swaps quick and painless. Not knowing the best approach for this, I nosed around and discovered this pedal, which seemed custom-designed for my needs. Even though another reviewer complained that his unit had arrived with one channel malfunctioning, my experience is that Carl Martin makes very high quality gear so I swallowed hard and placed my order. I had no reason to worry - the unit I received works exactly as advertised. It's built like a tank, is extremely quiet, doesn't affect my tone at all, and switches silently between guitars and amps. The different color LEDs for the two different channels is a nice touch. My only complaint is the slightly high price for the unit, but I would rather pay a little more for a solid, reliable piece of gear than save a few bucks and wind up with a paperweight. I am very satisfied with this unit.

I purchased the Carl Martin Route Box Double A/B Footswitch. I was disappointed to find the instrument 2 input didn't work. The user guide? Ha ha... was a joke. Woefully inadequate; it's nothing more than a data sheet with a set up diagram & specs.. Maybe they forgot to throw the user guide? I'd steer clear. I exchanged down for the Radial Engineering Big Shot I/O. Not as big on the features, but gets the job done and works just fine with my pedal board.

Inst. 1 and Inst. 2 jack's inoperable unless I route through the pedal board In/Out jacks ?? What if I am not using a pedal board?
Also a bit disappointed that Amp 1/Amp2 is either/or, but I can't blend the two together.
There is holding the battery in place in the chassis....runs the risk of battery knocking some of the internal components around.
