BOSS Katana-Mini Guitar Amplifier feat. Andreas Kisser from Sepultura

Description
The Katana-Mini guitar amplifier from BOSS brings full-size tone and versatility to an ultracompact format. You will appreciate its advanced analog gain circuitry, which provides satisfying distortion easily controlled by input volume and picking dynamics. The Katana-Mini offers three classic voicings: Brown delivers harmonically rich high gain ideal for heavy riffs and searing solos; Crunch provides overdrive perfect for rock rhythms and blues leads; Clean offers up crisp, punchy tones with wide dynamic range.
Advanced Analog Gain Circuitry Brings Big Tone
Unlike typical small amps with lackluster sound, the Katana-Mini produces impressively full tone that makes you want to play for hours. BOSS's design approach incorporates a custom speaker, refined circuitry and component selection to maximize sound quality in a minimum size. Decades of energy-efficient research provide surprising power and punch from just six AA batteries.
Three Classic Voicings: High Gain, Overdrive and Dynamic Clean
The Katana-Mini's all-analog input circuitry includes cascaded gain stages like a high-end amp, providing satisfying tone and feel with distortion controlled by playing dynamics. The Brown setting delivers expressive high gain rich in harmonics, perfect for heavy riffs and solos. Crunch brings overdrive ideal for rock and blues. Clean offers crisp, punchy tones with wide dynamic range.
Shape Your Tone With Traditional 3-Band EQ
Unlike limited EQs in other small amps, the Katana-Mini provides natural tone shaping with familiar bass, mid and treble controls like a full-size amp. Enhance your sound further with the onboard tape-style delay. Simple time and level knobs dial in reverb-like ambience to long, warm repeats.
Jam Anywhere, Record in Silence
The Katana-Mini sits on a tabletop or shelf at home, with a handle and battery power to grab and go anywhere. The AUX input lets you jam with your music library. The phones/recording out has special cabinet voicing for miked amp tone in private practice and recording situations.

The "Legendary Pignose Amp" for A New Generation
The portable solid state amp I have been waiting on. I thought it would come from Vox because they showed they could do it with their AmPlug technology. However, they never put two and two together to produce a battery-powered all solid-state portable amp. They have solid state amps, but they are mains powered. They have battery powered amps, but they use digital modeling technology. Enter the Boss Katana Mini. All analog (except the delay effect which I don't use) pedal friendly, simple, battery powered, loud enough to play with acoustic guitars, singers, and percussionists in a room. It checks all the boxes. Fits on my desk where I can tweak it while recording. The sound inspires me to play in a way that my old tube amps turned down to bedroom level didn't. Add a Zoom G1Xon, and you have everything the Katana Air gives you minus the wireless and with the addition of a looper and wah pedal. I would love to have a slightly larger version of this amp, like a Katana Air minus the added effects and wireless capability. I get it, the Air is an all in one super convenient home solution, and I plan to get one to keep in the living room. However, I think there is a market for a great sounding, battery-powered, no-frills, LOUD all solid-state amp that takes pedals well, like a tone and pedal freak's busking amp wet dream. As the title of my review suggests, this amp is basically what I always wanted my Pignose to be. The Pignose is a great amp, it is its own beast and many a good useable recordable tone can be had from it. But the one thing you can't really do is treat it like your bigger amps. You need to meet the Pignose on it's terms and then you can get great tone. This amp feels and sounds like a good tube amp, turned up to preformance volume

Not bad for what it is, but that's not a lot. I returned it.
Pretty good for what it is, but what it is isn't much. I tried the Orange Crush 12 at the same time, another small $100 amp, and I thought the Orange sounded much better. I had a Katana 50 for a while and that's an amazing amp, so I may have gotten my expectations up unrealistically for this, and the reviews were so over the top. But I just find it a pretty thin sounding amp. I couldn't get much volume out of the clean channel, didn't much like the crunch channel, and the Brown sounded great but it's just not something I'd use very much. So I returned it. It's a pretty good little first amp for a kid who's parents don't want to be blown out of the house, but for someone who's been playing a while, you can do as well or better for the same money and a whole lot better for not very much more.

I will use the amp in the living room where I have two of my guitars and then walk it outside and use it on the deck to practice playing outside. It is portable and versatile and well-priced! Just an FYI it doesn't come with a power cord, that is an additional $30 dollars, so the price isn't as good as you first thing it is. And you don't know that until you unpack it and look for the power cord. #sweepstakes

I have a 5150 combo amp and needed something a little quieter to practice with and this was exactly what I was looking for. The tone is awesome for a 15w amp and has a lot of versatility. #sweepstakes

Very portable but sound quality was not great. Even with recommended power adapter it has too much buzz.
I would buy this product again and will recommend it.

Always on the road, handy because it's easy to carry/store when I already have multiple bags and cases.
