Blue

Description

Spark SL is a perfect way to bring Blue’s legendary studio sound into your recording projects. The custom-designed capsule and Class-A electronics deliver a classic, transparent sound with superb detail and rich harmonic content, while the high-pass filter and -20dB pad provide ultimate flexibility. Accommodate loud vocalists or instruments with ease, eliminate harsh sibilance at the source, and work the distance and proximity effects with complete confidence. Whether you’re just getting started building out your project studio or expanding your already loaded mic locker, Spark SL offers versatility and trusted Blue performance for recording vocals, drums, guitars, pianos and more.

Gain-stage like a pro with a -20dB pad switch

The Spark SL comes with both a pad and high-pass filter switch so you can extend your recording applications and take full advantage of the Spark’s versatility. Engaging the -20dB pad switch will give you ample headroom to record loud sources like guitars amps or dynamic vocalists. When this is set to 0, the Spark SL will send more signal to your audio interface to capture more nuanced performances from quiet instruments like acoustic guitars, violins or pianos.

Eliminate low-end rumble

The high-pass filter switch will eliminate any low-end rumble often caused by recording frequencies under 100Hz on certain instruments. With this roll-off switch engaged, the Spark SL works great on acoustic instruments and will excel when used as a stereo pair to record complex instruments like the piano or even as room mics to create a natural reverb for drums, guitar, synths and more.

Great mic for the money

I've used the mic on acoustic guitars, electric cabs, drum overheads, and vocals. And it's sounded great on all of them. I wonder if the previous reviewers had the "focus" button pushed? The mic sounds crystal clear, the shock mounts are alright but don't leave your mics in them or the elastic bands will wear out relatively fast, but for $200 these mics are insane. No others in their price range will come close... I'd actually rate them 4 stars but I wanted to help "counter" the 1 star review, haha.

Okay

Overall it was a good sounding mic for the price, however like the other comment said there were no mids at all!!! But it does come with a shock mount and a nice case.

I have this Mic paired with a FocusRite 2i2. The sound is crystal clear in my home studio. I was amazed how crispy it sounds for the price I paid. I'm at work currently waiting Anxiously to get home to record

You would use a standard XLR microphone cable to connect this microphone to an interface.

Im looking at getting either this or the MXl V 87, what do you all recommend he uses the mic more for rapping some instrumental but he is just building up his passion right now? help please!!

Both microphones are a great choice and have the similar specifications. The MXL V87 has the addition of a custom made pop filter but I would recommend the Blue Spark SL as it has a high-pass filter and -20dB pad for ultimate flexibility.
