Behringer

collapse expand iconDescription

The Behringer TO800 overdrive pedal brings you the warmth and crunch of vintage tube amp overdrive in a compact stompbox. Designed with the original 4558 op amps and legendary MA150 distortion diodes found in classic rock overdrives, the TO800 recreates those iconic gritty lead tones. Dedicated drive, tone and level knobs give you precise control in dialing in your tone. The status LED lets you know when the effect is engaged. True bypass switching ensures your tone remains pristine.

Vintage Op Amps and Diodes for Classic Tube Tone

At the heart of the TO800 are the very same op amp and diode pairing found in vintage tube overdrives, recreating that natural tube amp breakup. The 4558 op amp adds warmth and fatness to the overdrive. Combined with the MA150 distortion diodes, you get smooth, singing leads and rich, complex chords. Just like the overdrive section of a cranked tube amp, the TO800 responds dynamically to your playing for a very amp-like feel.

Sculpt Your Sound With Dedicated Controls

The TO800 puts key parameters right at your fingertips. The Drive knob controls the overall amount of gain and distortion, taking you from subtle breakup to full-on tube scream. The Tone knob lets you dial in the perfect EQ - keep it darker for a thick, bassy crunch or brighten it up for searing leads. The Level knob balances the volume of the effected signal. Finding your tone is quick and intuitive.

A nice booster to make your setup more versatile

I bought this because my only options for distortion were a Swollen Pickle, and a couple of digital multi effect pedals that sounded very harsh. This pedal does not confuse me with controls that I don't understand. I use this for a nice boost on my old fender tube amp. It works great with the amps reverb. I believe this to be an analog device, which I suspect is why I find it very usable and not super harsh sounding. For the price, its a nice addition to make your assortment of pedals more versatile with different distortion/volume settings ect. Also, don't think that because this pedal is plastic that it is any less rugged than a Boss. I have broken several boss pedals, and had to fix the Swollen pickle before. The only difference is that a Boss or more expensive pedal costs more to replace. Also, since having a car fire and having much of my pedals stolen, I am not willing to spend 80 dollars on a brand name pedal that I know I would not be able to tell the difference between if I was blindfolded. (I used to own the Boss version)

Terrible Pedal Do Not Buy!!! 100% JUNK!!!

I bought this pedal for my cheap PYLE amp & right out of the box I didn't think it worked because the light doesn't work, I plugged it in & it does work but the amount of distortion/overdrive is so weak it's really no better than my distortion on the cheap PYLE amp. I bought it as cheap alternative to the Ibanez Tube Screamer which it's supposed to replicate, it even looks like it, but it's no tube screamer or vintage overdrive by any stretch of the imagination. It's not even worth the 30 minute drive to take it back to the store & I'm certainly not paying to ship it back just to receive another junk pedal.

The light only intermittently works so I don't know if it's on or not, but I have a very cheap & small PYLE amp & I can't really distinguish between the sound when the pedal is off or on. It's certainly nowhere near a "vintage tube overdrive" like the Ibanez tube screamer it's supposed to replicate. It completely stopped working & I noticed the ground wire from the battery was off. It's a 30 minute drive to take it back to the store but it was so cheap I am not even sure it's worth taking back & I am certainly not paying to ship it back. Maybe I just got a bad unit but this thing is 100% JUNK!!!

I really like this TO800 overdrive pedal from Behringer. Got a nice grit to it and seems to be compressed a bit.

You just have to buy it if your a effects junky. You want be disappointed. It's a great overdrive it's got the tube screamer somewhat down but it does have its own voicing so its more like a brother of a tube screamer. For the price really this thing is awesome
