This high-visibility tuner features a smooth 21-segment LED meter and Note Name Indicator that supports 7-string guitars and 6-string basses. Choose between Chromatic and Guitar/Bass modes for precise tuning and the Accu-Pitch function gives you visual confirmation when tuning is complete. With a durable stompbox design, the TU-3 is built to withstand the rigors of touring and designed for fast operation, even in the noisiest of environments. High-Visibility LED Display

The TU-3 features a bright 21-segment LED meter display, with selectable brightness levels for optimal visibility on any stage. TU-3 - Just the Job!

The improved accuracy and tracking time over the old TU-2 is a BIG bonus. While accuracy is not too important (bearing in mind as soon as you fret a string the tuning changes slightly) it is particularly useful when setting or checking the intonation on a guitar. The tracking is FAST! Yes, there are faster tuners, but the typical 1/10 of a second response time is fast enough! Tap out a scale and the TU-3 will follow! (Which makes it a great learning tool - to check those pentatonic practice scales for accuracy!) The LED's are brighter on the new model - and there are more of them. Much easier to read at a glance. The "Acu-pitch" feature is good. By flashing, it confirms spot-on tuning. Contrary to some opinion, it is NOT a "tone sucker" - even though Boss do not use "true-bypass". (I understand they always use an FET buffer instead.) I only use a "clean boost" pedal with a Marshall tube amp (with the TU-3 in by-pass mode). The tuner has no audible effect. It's a Boss - so it will take all the normal abuse a working guitarist will give it - including the odd spilled beer! Unlike a "Pitchblack" tuner I tried recently (and returned!) there are no clunks and speaker pops when you hit the pedal. Silent operation. My only gripe is no switch. Plugging in the guitar chord switches it on. That's OK if it is used with a power supply, but not so good if you prefer to use batteries - and don't remember to unplug the guitar! Overall it's a "must have" tuner for anyone at any level. Cheaper ones just don't do the job, and spending more would be a waste of money.

    Great.. for four months.

I purchased my Boss TU 3 tuner after doing my research, reading the reviews and asking around. I was convinced this was the best tuner for the money, if not the best period. I went to my local Guitar Center and bought one November 2011. I was very satisfied with the product and it worked great until March 2012. This product was never abused and lightly used at best, since I play Bass and am not constantly tuning my instrument and it was only used two or three a week. Apparently the switch went bad; being so new I took the tuner back to my local Guitar Center for an exchange. Here is where the real problem lies. I felt as though the associate treated me like a moron and was only interested in defending the stores extended warranty program. After several frustrating minutes, I left the defective product on the counter and advised the associte I would never spend another dollar with Gutiar center. I am telling others to do the same as well. My business is going to local shops where there is appreciation for my business and service after the sale.

Want to know why you need it? This thing does more than just help you tune; it teaches you the truth. The TU-3 has a feature called "Accu-Pitch" which is basically like having a tiny pitch perfectionist trapped inside. It's the tuning equivalent of having a mini Gandalf guiding your every move: "No sharp shall pass!"

On the one side, I see 1 input jack and the other side has 2 jacks labeled output and bypass. What's the difference? What is the purpose of each, output and bypass? What does output do differently from bypass, and vice versa? How are these meant to be used? Can I play through an amp and simultaneously see which note or chord I'm playing in the pedal display? Shouldn't this be mentioned in the product features section of your product description?

It is just the pedal. The cables and power adapter are sold separately.
