BOSS ME-90 Guitar Multiple Effects | Introducing the most advanced ME model

Description
With its knob-driven interface and diverse effects selection, the ME-90 lets you build configurations and tweak tones with the ease of a stompbox-filled pedalboard—without the hassle of fastening tape, power distribution and multiple connection cables. Just dial up an amp model or effect type within a category and turn the knobs to get the sound you want. There are 36 preset patches with ready-to-play pro tones, plus 36 user patches for storing your custom creations.
Flexible, Real-Time Control
The ME-90 features eight footswitches with smooth, quiet operation and an expression pedal with an integrated toe switch. Use Memory mode to call up complete patch setups with the footswitches, and then switch to Manual mode for direct on/off control of each effect category within the patch. The footswitch LEDs light in different colors for quick identification in the heat of a performance. It’s also possible to set all LEDs to light in a fixed color for each mode if desired.High-Quality Effects
The ME-90 puts a massive library of BOSS effects at your command, offering seven different categories filled with selections derived from the flagship GT-1000. Everything you need is here, from overdrives and distortions to pitch/mod effects, delays, and high-quality reverbs. You also get 11 dedicated Pedal FX, a looper and specialized effects such as acoustic simulation and down tuning. There are 60 effect types in total, with access to over 20 more via BOSS Tone Studio. A send/return loop is available for external pedals, complete with the ability to save the on/off status in patches and place the loop before or after amp models in the signal chain.Lightweight and Durable
The ME-90 is lighter than its previous generation model while maintaining the rock-solid durability that BOSS is famous for. The expression pedal has been newly redesigned as well for even finer parameter control. You can power the processor with four AA batteries or an optional AC adapter (sold separately), and a rear-panel switch instantly optimizes the outputs for use with a guitar amp or a full-range sound system, such as a PA. And along with BOSS Tone Studio communication, the USB-C output allows you to use the ME-90 as a computer audio interface for your go-to music production software.

The Best Multi-Effects Pedal
I like Boss pedals and I've used a ME-50 for many years so I was excited to try the ME-90. The main positives are an amp pre-amp section with some great amp modeling, updated sound engine, and some new effects. The amp models and effects sound way better than some previous versions including the ME-80. There are I believe 72 presets that can be modifies by the user. The operation of the pedal is very intuitive with no menu screens to mess with. I have been exploring the different effects and variations and I'm still discovering new sounds. This pedal is great fun and being a Boss product, it's built like a tank. I highly recommend this product.

This pedal has software issues
I use an ME 80 live and at home. The ME 80 is much more consistent and solid than the ME 90. I think a lot of this can be fixed in a software update. I used V1.03. ME 90 POSITIVES Amp models are good. ISSUES Does not remember settings after a power cycle. The ME 80 does. Pick a Tweed amp in manual mode. Go to P1 and get a Van Halen sound. Then go back to manual. It's still using the vanhalen modeling amp. Expression pedal must be hit hard to work Compressor has some kind of reverb noise on it. Noticeable when Compressor, Amp modeling, and OD/DS pedals are on. Tune Down is not in tune when engaged. Check tuning on guitar, then engage tune down, guitar is now out of tune or background notes are present similar to a harmonizer. Levels on pedals don't see consistent after usage and turning on and off. This was the 2nd unit that I tried so it wasn't the hardware.

Perfect for guitar players who want an all-in-one pedal board without having to purchase multiple pedals. The is great for live performances allowing me to skip the guitar amp by plugging the pedal directly into the mixer going to the PA system. It has many presets and multiple effects to make your own sounds. And it's a Boss!!!!

The processor allows multiple effects at a very reasonable price and a more usable format than individual pedals.
Really good, but not the best

The Boss ME-90 is a very good multi-processor. But I find that for a few dollars more, you can do better with the GT-1000 Core. The ME-90 has only 36 preset sounds and 36 more available to build your own patches. The GT has 250, while being more powerful and smaller on your board.
Amazing

This thing has incredible sound, it's easy to use, and super adjustable. For example, another reviewer mentioned that you have to hit the expression pedal hard to get it to work - the sensitivity for that is adjustable, you just have to Google it. Definitely take the time to read the instructions or you will be frustrated. The only downside I see with this is that there aren't a ton of patches, but that's only because this is new. As more people use this they will be creating more patches. I can't believe the value, has so many great sounds and you can do anything with it easily.
Some interesting sounds

Got this looking to simplify my live setup and possibly replace my old Digitech RP-500. The battery operation was a big plus there. One fewer cables running around. The amp models need some tweaking. I run it through a clean tube amp so I just want to add some drive without coloring the sound too much there. I'll probably get there with a bit more trial and error. In my opinion the mildly overdriven tones are the weak link in all multi effects units. The other effects are all pretty good. The shimmer delay is a fun one. If anything a couple drive pedals into this would be a good setup for live use. Not sure if this is exactly what I want or not. One feature I would have liked to see is a bypass footswitch.

Is there delay on this processor and if so what kind?
1) Yes, there is. 2) Standard Delay – A clean, digital-style delay with clear repeats. Analog Delay – Emulates the warm, degraded repeats of classic analog delay pedals. Tape Echo – Emulates vintage tape-based delays with slight modulation and tonal coloration. Modulate Delay – Adds a subtle modulation (chorus-like) to the delayed signal. Reverse Delay – Plays the repeats in reverse for psychedelic or ambient effects. Shimmer Delay – Adds pitch-shifted (often octave up) shimmer to the delayed repeats for an ethereal texture. Pad Echo – Adds ambient, synth-like textures to the repeats — great for atmospheric playing.submitted4 months ago
