Description
The BOSS Katana Gen 3 50W 1x12 guitar combo amplifier provides an inspiring playing experience for guitarists of all levels. This third-generation model builds on the Katana legacy of authentic tube tone and feel at an affordable price. Refinements to the Tube Logic amp modeling provide an even wider range of sound with a new Pushed amp character that lets you achieve satisfying edge-of-breakup tone at lower volumes. Connect to the updated BOSS Tone Studio app for intuitive editing of amp character, effects and more from your computer or mobile device. BOSS continues to lead in sound innovation with the new Katana Gen 3 amplifiers, featuring revamped I/O and six unique amp characters—expandable to 12 with the Variation button. The latest models include the PUSHED edge of breakup amp tones and the BLOOM voicing switch on the HEAD and ARTIST models, enhancing every detail of your tone with superior sound quality, a customizable UI, and optional wireless streaming via the BTS app.
Tube-Inspired Tone Shaped to Your Needs
Katana Gen 3's Tube Logic faithfully recreates the coveted sound and response of classic tube amps. Six amp characters—Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, Warm and the new Pushed—provide a range of tones from sparkling cleans to high-gain leads. Selectable variations give you subtle tweaks to each character. Shape your tone further with Cab Resonance and 3-band EQ options in the BOSS Tone Studio editor. The integrated power attenuator lets you crank the amp for rich harmonics at lower volumes—the perfect solution for home playing.
A Universe of Tone at Your Fingertips
Katana Gen 3 puts a universe of guitar tones under your control. Choose from six amp characters—including the all-new Pushed type—and dial in the perfect sound with dedicated gain, presence and power level controls. Each character has a selectable variation for a total of 12 distinct tones. From crystal-clear cleans to saturated overdrive, this combo has you covered for any style. The integrated power attenuator lets you experience a cranked-up tone without excessive volume, perfect for home playing and recording.
Onboard Effects and Deep Tone Editing
Katana Gen 3 provides over 60 customizable BOSS effects, including booster, modulation, delay, reverb and many more. Connect to BOSS Tone Studio for an intuitive workflow editing amp character, effects, EQs and routing. Save up to four Tone Settings for instant recall of your sounds. A power amp in, phones out and USB connectivity offer flexibility for recording and silent practice. You can also control Katana Gen 3 with optional footswitches and expression pedals.
Portable Powerhouse
Despite its advanced features, Katana Gen 3 is a highly portable amp. The 50-watt Katana-50 1x12 combo strikes an ideal balance of punch and portability for most players. Its custom 12" speaker provides full low-end and a wide frequency response. All components are built to BOSS's renowned quality standards for years of reliable performance. I would definitely buy another
I use this amp for both practice and recording. It is one of the cleanest and most versatile amps I have ever owned. The switchable 50W, 25W, and 0.5W power settings are efficient for use as a practice amp in different settings. The single 12" speaker sounds great at all volumes. The effects selections are a bit clumsy and not as robust as the newer Artist series, but at its price point, I think it is a very attractive alternative. I am delighted to have a solidly built Amp and effects platform at substantial savings.

Big regret.
This is supposed to be easily used with the Boss Tone Exchange App. But to get there you have to download an upgrade into the amp, which will take multiple attempts and hours to complete, then you have to fight with the Boss Tone Studio app in your computer to accept the connection with the amp which, again, is unreliable and can take hours of frustration to finally get connected. It's just a really poor execution of a technology Boss clearly wasn't ready to put on the market. Amp sounds good, but 8O% of amp capability is absent without access to Tone Exchange.

Excellent as a bedroom amp. Easy to set tones and feels good to play through. Could see using it as a backup for gigs and band practice. Might replace the speaker with something nicer. Haven't tried the app yet and probably won't. Footswitch is not included and requires a battery to power it. #sweepstakes

...This is the first amp that I've ever owned, or used, that I only have to set the gain at 12 o'clock, with a little bit of boost, to achieve a very heavy, silky, saturated, Metal tone!....With most other amps, including those costing 10 times more, I've had to crank the gain to the max, to achieve a usable tone.....This Boss Katana 50 Gen 3 has just blown me away!.....The tones and effects are just second to none,... especially at this price point!...🤘🔥🤘...

Can I use this for bass guitar?
A guitar amp is not designed to reproduce the low frequencies that are typically produced by a bass guitar. This means that it can compromise the sound quality of the instrument. Besides this, improper use of the speaker can also lead to damage.submitted2 months ago
