DS-2 TURBO Distortion

BOSS

collapse expand iconDescription

The BOSS DS-2 Turbo Distortion pedal is a powerful stompbox with twin distortion modes for sculpting your tone. The DS-2's Turbo Mode I produces a warm, creamy distortion ideal for chords and rhythm playing, with a flat frequency response for natural-sounding crunch. Turbo Mode II delivers a searing, mid-boosted distortion perfect for soaring leads and solos that cut through the mix. Connect an FS-5L footswitch to the built-in remote jack for instant switching between modes, keeping your hands free to play. With the DS-2, you get two pedals in one—all from the legendary engineers at BOSS.

Turbo Mode I: Thick and Smooth

engage Turbo Mode I for a full, rounded distortion equally suited to chords and single notes. Its flat frequency response adds girth without coloring your tone, preserving the natural voice of your pickups. Dial in just a touch of gain for a hint of breakup, or crank it up for a saturated crunch—the DS-2 delivers exceptional clarity and touch sensitivity at any setting.

Turbo Mode II: Searing Mid-Boosted Lead Tone

Switch to Turbo Mode II and unleash a searing distortion optimized for solos and lead playing. A pronounced midrange bump brings your most expressive phrases to the forefront of the mix, with a tight, focused tone that cuts through loud bands or noisy stages. The DS-2's dedicated Level control allows you to match the volume of the two modes, ensuring a consistent output whether you're playing rhythm or leads.

Hands-Free Switching With Remote Jack

Connect an FS-5L footswitch to the DS-2's remote jack for instant switching between its twin Turbo modes. Keep your hands on the frets and stomp between your choice of distortion flavors in an instant. The remote jack also allows you to control an external effect or amp channel at the same time as toggling the DS-2 between modes, streamlining your pedalboard setup.

Awesome for solos!

This pedal was the best distortion ive ever bought. With an expression pedal, this thing kicks BUTT for my solos! It has everything from a grungy type tone, to blues, to close to metal (with the right eq....). I highly recommend this pedal to everyone!

Not Too Shabby

This isn't a bad pedal by any means, but it didn't quite fit my rig. If I had to choose, I'd personally go with the DS-1 over the DS-2, because the additional gain setting didn't add enough to justify this pedal for me. Another pedal to look at is the Pro Co Rat 2, which offers overdrive, distortion, and fuzz, depending on how much gain you use. One thing to keep in mind with these Boss distortions is that they sound best going into an already overdriven amp, or stacked with an overdrive pedal. Whichever you choose, the DS-1 and the DS-2 have both been used by various pros, such as Kurt Cobain and John Frusciante.

I know about this pedal and I've wanted it for a while. I think it is great for people who want a basic distortion tone for their overall sound.

I've been using the DS-1 off and on for several years. The DS-2 offers a warm side and the B side has a bite via remote option. After working with multiple guitars I was able to use both sides of the pedal effectively. Use your guitar toggle switch, volume, and tone to really get the most out of this pedal. Tip: If you have Boss MS-3 or similar use the ctrl option to setup remote switching.

Not really a huge fan. Both distortion channels are weak and just kind of thin and low quality. This might be good thing for beginners but i wouldnt recommend it. There are so many different distortion pedals you can buy out there that are way higher quality for nearly the same price point.

Does this come with a cable to plug in to my amp or do I have to buy one of those separately?

This effects pedal does not come with a cable. A cable would need to be purchased separately.
