Description
The BOSS DB-90 Dr. Beat Metronome is a powerful practice tool for instrumentalists of all kinds. With four different modes, Rhythm Coach helps build skills like timing, speed and stamina. Using the onboard microphone or by connecting triggers, pads or an instrument, you can practice with the DB-90 and get real-time feedback on your performance.
Interactive Training for Developing Rhythmic Mastery
Rhythm Coach provides an engaging way to improve your rhythmic skills. The four training modes focus on accuracy, speed, endurance and free practice. As you play, the DB-90 monitors your timing and provides feedback to help you strengthen your rhythm. Using the mic or by plugging in triggers, pads or your instrument, you can practice with your own gear while Rhythm Coach tracks your progress.
Customize the Beat for Your Needs
With the Note Mixing function, you can instantly create a variety of beats by adjusting the levels of five different note values using the front-panel sliders and rotary dial. Select from four distinct click sounds, including a human voice counting out the beat. For drummers, the DB-90 offers realistic PCM drum patterns with different styles to help build timing and feel.
Inputs and Outputs for Versatile Use
The DB-90 is equipped with connections to support many practice and performance needs. Plug in your instrument, mic or MIDI gear to sync the metronome to an external sequencer. Drummers can use the trigger input for V-Pads. Guitarists and bassists can plug in directly to monitor through headphones. With a mic, the Rhythm Coach functions work for acoustic drum practice. The DB-90 is a flexible tool for developing solid rhythm skills and timing.
Portable and Easy to Use
Despite its many features, the DB-90 is compact, lightweight and simple to operate. Front-panel controls including sliders, buttons and a rotary dial provide hands-on editing of parameters like tempo, meter, rhythm and volume. Hands Down The Best

It does everything you need from a metronome and probably more. The feature I love is plugging my bass directly into the unit and playing through headphones without an amp. Silent practice studio that is as portable as possible. My headphones take up more space than this unit! It will run this way powering my headphones and bass with just the nine volt battery, but I use an AC adapter at home to save battery life. #sweepstakes

Not much else to say, this is the gold standard. It might almost too much as it has many features most won't need or use and the lower priced/less featured DB-30/60 are good choices as well. However the DB-90 has best volume of the three not to mention all the advanced features, so imo it's worth the price for that alone.
Cadillac of Metronomes!

Love it! I'm in my third year of learning to play piano, and was having problems keeping track of the count (not the pulse). The voice feature on the DB-90 was just what I needed. I was able to practice at a very slow tempo and with the voice calling out "1 and two and" etc, I could focus on what I needed to play instead of trying to count along in my head and read the sheet music. This metronome has a lot of features, but is really easy to use. I think it would be a great teachers aide for helping students count, feel different beats and pulses. It may be old school and seems a bit out-dated nowadays, but I found the form factor a refreshing break from all the menu-diving app based stuff. If you're looking for the ultimate metronome, this is it!

We've used this with our church band for rehearsals and performances. We play piano, drums and guitar and this has the ability to be used with all instruments. It could be louder as we play acoustically and with more than one instrument it is a little shy. Overall very versitile and helpful
Its great, but some take note..

It does what it needs to do, tempos and time signatures. My only real problem is the volume..If you're just plugging headphones in and playing with a drum set, its definitely not as loud as you'd want, even with In Ears. If you have it routed through a board where you can add extra volume, then its fine. For the price, you would assume it would come with a wall adapter, but it doesn't...ok not a huge deal but just nice if it did. Easy to use, sliders work just fine, fast to get to a tempo you want with using the dial, for switching between songs at a show. The light option is nice for when you're in the dark and nice that it turns off so it doesn't distract you. If you happen to not change or touch it for a bit, it will turn off..so beware if you're about 15-20mins into a set and haven't adjusted it.
I don't need it.

I took it back. the only people who need a metronome to be this powerful are band and marching instructors. Unless you really want a metronome that you can program tempo changes into you don't need it. I thought for the price it was a drum machine but no its just a really smart metronome that costs as much as a drum machine. lol. I still give it 5 stars but I don't need one.

Does Boss DB 90 metronome have AC adapter or just battery operated
The adapter is sold seperately, but it's not just battery operated.
