Overview

The Schecter C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar takes everything guitar players love about the popular C-1 and adds platinum fingerboard inlays, fretboard and body binding, and satin chrome hardware. This C-1 also boasts a double cutaway mahogany body, 25.5" scale set maple neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. A Schecter Ultra Access neck joint lets you reach the entire fretboard with ease and comfort. It's loaded with a pair of EMG Active 81/85 pickups for an incredible range of tones.

Grover tuners

The original Rotomatic® with an improved higher ratio gearing. The 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. The finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination.

Rosewood fingerboard
The most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. The sound is richer in fundamental than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

EMG Active 81/85 pickups
One of the most popular EMG’s the 81 is the one that started a revolution. Utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high-end cut and fluid sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. When used in both neck and bridge positions, the sound can only be described as blistering. Recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup.

3-piece maple neck
The C-1 Platinum is made with three pieces of maple for extra stability. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the three-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar:

Traded in my GC Exclusive PRS SE Custom 24 for this amazing piece of gorgeousness, as I wasn't digging the Custom 24's shorter 25' scale and I never use the tremolo.

So first things first, this is pretty much a re-branded Damien Platinum-6 without those silly bat inlays and with a much nicer top. Schecter claims the top is quilted maple, but it may just be a veneer. The fretboard is classy and low-key. The guitar itself is loaded with EMGs.

So yeah, if the Damien Platinum-6 has put you off thanks to its garish appearance, get yourself one of these, since you'll have the advantage of a maple top and the same specs as the Damien.

As to how it compares with the PRS, apples and oranges, but it's claimed that both were made by World Musical Instruments, and the quality shows. They're practically kissing cousins, but you'll get a better value out of the C1 as it's priced slightly better (there is a Floyd Rose version if you need a whammy bar) and has "branded" stock pickups versus the PRS. Then again, they're both designed for different parts of the market, but if you're willing to keep an open mind, you'll find that the C1 will do everything the PRS SE does and more, for less.

Now that's out of the way, the C1 Platinum came set out of the box in perfect tune, and it took absolutely no time at all to break in. Hell, it didn't even need any breaking in.

Wasn't hard to dial in any tone I could want thanks to the EMGs, and the playability is second to none.

I'm extremely happy with my trade-in/purchase, and I'd recommend that you get them while they're available.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar:

I couldn't believe it when i unwrapped this guitar. It's my first REAL electric guitar i have gotten after i have practice 4hr/day for a year. A total chick magnet design (my opinion XP), and it just feels legit. Best time to buy this Guitar Center EXCLUSIVE is when it's on sale.

It's worth it for anyone you love and hope to see them grow in music.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar:

This guitar is literally amazing. I come from playing Fender's, Gibson's, ESP LTD's, Ibanez's, and Jackson's. From my 10+ years of playing I haven't played a guitar this as great as this at its price point. I actually sold one of my Ibanez S770pb to get this guitar. Couldn't of made a better choice. The EMG's it comes with are on par with most of my other guitars I own (including Seymour Duncan's, EMG's, Bare Knuckle, and DiMarzio). This guitar is spectacular for the styles of music I play (Progressive, Metalcore, Post-Hardcore, and Pop Punk/Easycore). Dont bash me for the styles I like btw :). The reason for buying this guitar was when I went to Guitar Center to look for a guitar without a locking them system cause I own to many and wanted a change for once. I picked up this beast and played it for about a good 30 mins. Instantly I feel in love with this guitar.

The C-1 Platinum, Schecter did superb work on this piece of equipment. It does what you wanted it to do. Solid and sleek body makes playing with ease. EMG is a plus, hands down. You should check it out to and prove for yourself. Once you start playing, seems that you don't want to stop.

I wanted a mid level guitar and had not even considered Schecter, but this guitar was on sale so I jumped on it. Great guitar for the money. Stays in tune, good sustain, and the pickups are EMGs. Great guitar for playing heavy metal.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar:

Got this a year ago and absolutely love it! I just decided to adjust the intonation before using it to track guitar in the studio this week and I realized when I went to adjust it that everything was really almost right there. A good 4 of the 6 strings i found were in tune open, on the 12th fret, and even on the TWENTY FOURTH fret! That's insane! Not having adjusted the intonation of this guitar once in a whole year, I was blown away to find it was THAT in tune a year later. Pros: -Stays in tune like crazy. The neck-thru (ish) design makes it incredibly stable and reliable. Sometimes I can make it through an entire gig/practice without tuning once! I'm not sure if the floating bridge version is as stable but this fixed bridge is SO reliable. Grover tuners do their job well -The satin finish is awesome, especially on the neck, which makes it super easy to play. Looks awesome too! -High fret access. A nice gradual slop to the body makes it very easy to reach the 24th fret. Other guitars like my charvel DC-1 have a little tougher time because of the neck joint. - EMG pickups sound great. A little thin at times, but still sound great and always let you pop out of the mix on the bridge position. Cons: Sometimes it takes a good few tries to get a new string down through the body hole, but that's no biggie. All in all a great, reliable shredding machine. I still prefer it for the heavy stuff over the little more expensive Charvel Desolation DC-1. Nice job, Schecter

This thing is awesome. The setup on it from the factory is better than any other guitar I've ever purchased. Stays in tune forever and the pickups sound great. The craftsmanship on this guitar feels very solid, and it looks killer.

        Tone God

        By

        from Antioch CA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research C-1 Platinum Electric Guitar:

for $550 you get probably one of the greatest guitars on earth. Schecter has just recently caught my attention but every one i have played has been amazing. even they're $300 guitars are awesome. I played this guitar when i was last in my local GC and ohhh man...If i weren't buying a Hellraiser C-1 i would have grabbed this before anyone else seen it. the tone this thing KRANKS! It's a freaking monster. Neck is ultra slim and rounded it's a 3 piece set neck that Feels the same as any neck through guitar which means Superior! It's Really REALLY light weight and the EMG 81,85 Combo is never a bad thing. If you are looking for a traditional double cut away design guitar that literally is possessed by a Tone God then buy this you will not be disappointed.
