Overview

The Markbass CMD 121H is a bass combo amplifier that delivers incredible, professional-quality sound in a compact, easy-to-manage package. Less than 2' wide or tall, and under 40 pounds, the CMD 121H provides an amazingly large amount of power with its 12" B&C woofer with a 1" compression driver with custom horn. This is due in part to the excellent design of the speaker, and the way the cabinet was built to protect the integrity of your sound.

But the CMD121H amps's sound is also increased by the built-in presence of the Little Mark II solid state preamp. It gives you a 4-band EQ, Markbass' own VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) filters, and the ability to hook up to an extension cab for even more room-filling sound.

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

We just played a community event, one week after receiving the MarkBass, and this amp, the CMD 121 H, was the stage bass amp. All of the musicians playing bass, about 5 acts, over 6 hours, used it, without instruction, and all were pleased. One band playing upbeat southern with pedal steel for lead, wished it had a little more "slap", (go figure), but controls were set for the most bass sound you could get, oh well......
Two of the bassists, would have bought this amp on the "spot", or the next day. It is a bit pricey, but I think worth the price, and the 20% off deal, made it much easier on the wallet.

Amazing - light weight, powerful and beautiful sound

    By jOhn Morse

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I've been playing out for more than two decades and have done my time lugging my heavy (but brilliant sounding) Ampeg and Eden gear around. This amp is absolutely brilliant. I use it in clubs up against a Mesa half stack and it has absolutely no problem keeping up. Need a little more? I run it through the PA so stage volume can stay balanced. I've still got my Ampeg and Eden gear but it now stays in the rehearsal space and my Markbass goes everywhere. I play Ric, Schecter and custom lefty basses, both active and passive, and this amp sounds amazing with all of them (with the requisite tweaking or compression to balance active vs passive). Don't hesitate - if you are considering this amp it'll serve you extremely well.

It's what I've been searching for...

    By jOhn Morse

    from Somersworth NH

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I've been playing for more years than I care to count and have always dragged an Ampeg 4x10 cabinet with me, with a brief period when I was using Eden cabinets. I'm less fond of dragging heavy equipment up and down flights of stairs so I wanted a light weight but powerful option. This is it. Used it at practice with my six string bass the night I got it and, even though we practice in a small airplane hanger, this thing was more than loud enough and I didn't turn it past 4... very impressed with the way the low B sounded and the high notes weren't shrill. Great frequency range on this amp. I'll be picking up an external cab for those times when I need a little more volume but I foresee this being more than enough on stage and just running the XLR out to the house PA. So far I couldn't be happier with this amp.

    Great amp!

    By David Harris

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

Powerful ,clean, full low end and tight. Love this amp! Using it as my tuba rig for Funk/New Orleans and totally digging it. Even though it has xlr in, I opted yo use Presonus mic pre in front- adds a bit more lw end and clarity. Fre shipping and they said I ad 30 days to check it out and could bring it in to store for full refund if I didn't like it.

loud and light my favorite 2 L's

    By Dustin K

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

i like this amp because it is generaly lightwight compared to others of its size and it has louder and better sound than my fender bass amp that weighs like 35 to 40 pounds. The amp offers a portable while exceptional sound and is good for any bass player i highly reccomend this product especially on sale

PERFECT combo to start out and expandable to massive sound!

    By Mike Douglas

    from Saint Charles, Missouri

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

No kidding you will be amazed at the tone and volume out of this thing. I actually have the LMII head and 121H separate cab which is the same thing this combo has. You can literally one arm this thing, throw it in the back seat, and set up in 30 seconds! Have amazing cut-through-the-band tone for practices and small rooms, and it can drive an additional 8 ohm cab as big as you like. Another option is to do what I've found is very effective: instead of sitting it on top of a larger cab, run a second 12" or 2x10 traveler cab on the opposite end of the stage with a 12 gauge cable. It works like a champ especially in a basement or livingroom situation. By itself it's no slouch...let me put it this way I can be heard without the extension cab, and that's competing with the Twin reverb of our lead guitarist!

    Great amp for Doublers!

    By Alex Bippus

    from Lodi, CA

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

This amp is the best investment that I have ever made for my bass playing. I play upright, electric upright, and electric bass and this is the only amp that I have found able to handle them all equally well. The amp is great because I can actually carry all my gear in one trip! Electric bass in one hand, upright on my back and the amp in the other hand. This amp seems much more focused when on an amp stand and I've discovered that the amp has a "sweet spot" with the gain knob set at 3/4 of the way up. and This amp is incredibly warm and articulate on upright and electric upright with the vpf on 3/4 of the way. The direct out on this is also great. It retains warmth when recording and is very low noise. My only complaint about the amp is that the carpeting attracts dirt and hair. But that aside, Great Amp!

Incredible big sound for such a small box

    By David Waldon

    from Dallas, TX

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I use this with my Modulus Quantum 5, and the tone is massive. I've had several people take 'double takes' when they hear what's coming out of this thing. It's amazing, versatile, has a built in DI, and has been just about perfect for me. I couldn't recommend it any higher.

    CMD 121H 1x12 Combo

    By Scott Miner

    from PHX, AZ

Comments about Markbass CMD 121H 300/500W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

This little combo does well with a small venue. When paired with a big band or a larger group it tends to be a little thin. I play electric bass and do not know if it will project with an acoustic bass better. My opinion is that it is a great rehearsal and small group piece but will need another cab to round it out.
