I recently purchased the Ibanez V70CEBK and I absolutely love this guitar. I showed it to a friend who has been playing for ten years and he was envious. I just started to play and i tried two guitars before finding this treasure. The playability of this guitar is excellent for its price range as is the rest of the features (mahogany back and sides, rosewood fretboard and bridge). The black gloss finish just adds the look of dominance to the guitar.

If your looking for your first acoustic, this is good for the money. The action/playablitiy is tough but good for finger muscles. It is not a fast guitar. Suited best for some hard strumming basic chord songs. If you want to play the blues, pass on this one and spend the extra money on something faster.

i just bought it a few days ago and the shipping is really fast. there is small piece of wood come out from the guitar and i don't know if it effect the guitar or not. There some insect stick to that peace of wood also. i have a picture of it. they make a cheap plastic for the battery holder and volume controller. not completely seal or glue it properly.

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

So this was a present from my parents when I first started playing, which was about 10 years ago.
For a beginner, this wouldn't be a bad way to start. As you get more experienced ( I.E.- doing more than just basic chords near the headstock) you realize this guitar is lacking playability anywhere else. The pickup/ electronics are ok, but nothing to write home about.
All in all, in my opinion, if you can afford a little extra money to spend, I'd steer you towards something else more versatile.

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just recently bought this guitar, and I've been using it to jam with friends as well as lead worship for my church. the sound is great whether playing with or without an amp.It is great for playing chords, but the action is low enough to make playing lead lines possible as well.

On top of the great playability and sound, the blue color also looks really cool :D

Solid guitar, considering the versatility and price

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been an Ibanez fan since the late 80s, when I bought my first Roadstar series electric guitar. So when I went looking for a budget acoustic electric, and I auditioned Yamahas, Washburns, and other Ibanezes, I settled on this one. I was surprised at how good the tone was with the action being as low as it is (the action is not on the same level as most electrics, but still lower than most acoustics, especially my Mitchells and Epiphones)--normally tone is sacrificed when action is lowered in acoustics. There's minimal buzzing at frets--only a few spots on the highest and lowest strings and not too pronounced. My only knock on it is the active pickup, which leaves a little something to be desired with regard to sound when plugged into certain devices and amps, is prone to lots of humming and feedback (be sure to get an acoustic/electric cable and an acoustic amp with feedback reduction or elimination features and be careful about trying this guitar with strictly electric guitar cables and amps, effects pedals, recording devices, etc.), and requires frequent battery changes. I've used it for some practice and performance and even a few recordings, although it is not the easiest guitar to record from and can be tricky in that regard. For performance, I like to be left of center and have the amp 10-12 feet to my right and angled away from me at a slight angle--maybe about a 15 degree angle, as long as it's not too small of a venue and won't be too close to walls to bounce off of--but this might have more to do with the amp than the guitar.

Great Quality and Sound At An Affordable Price.

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased one of these in Trans Blue about a week ago as an early birthday gift to myself. I just couldn't believe how great it looked and sounded the first time I picked it up in the store. It sounded better than some of the more expensive guitars I tried out on that trip and it just felt right in my hands. The neck is just the right size for me (my hands are kind of on the small side) and it is well balanced and has a nice weight to it. It's a tad bit heavier than my other acoustic which is an Ibanez GD10. The one I got was a much darker blue than the picture here on the website and 2 of the salesmen also commented on how nice it looked with the darker blue when we took it out of the box to check it over. The cream binding really sets off the darker color too. This is my first acoustic with electronics so I immediately plugged it in when I got home and it sounded just as beautiful through an amp as it does unplugged. As far as the playability goes, the action was perfect right out of the box and it stays in tune very well. As a bonus, the store price-matched the online sale price for me ($175) so I basically got the 2-year warranty for $5 instead of $30. My only complaint is that Ibanez puts D'Addario EXP coated strings on all of their acoustics (the owner's manuals for both of mine say this) and I'm not a big fan of coated strings, but that's an easy change and not worth deducting a star over.

If you're an experienced player, do not buy this.

      By

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was fairly good at playing the guitar when I bought this just shy of three years ago. But when I actually started getting into the structure of guitars, I noticed how much this guitar in particular is less than mediocre. The neck and the fret board feel extremely sticky, the action is high, making the cutaway pointless, and if you choose to get the black one, be prepared to see every single tiny scratch the guitar has gotten. If you're looking to have fun with a guitar and broaden your style of playing, this isn't the guitar you're looking for. But if you know you're just going to play chords(basic chords with a capo, not bar chords, because you'll have to adjust the tuning as some frets will die on you)then sure, this guitar is fine. Just make sure to play it for a good hour or so before you buy it.

Great Beginner Guitar.... for a year

      By

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for seven years and I got this guitar when I started playing. I always forget to write a review on my guitars so I am doing it now... However, the guitar is great starting off. Really solid, nothing wrong, good sound, great to begin with, etc. Then... after you have it for about 3-4 months the fret buzz kicks in, and other random problems. The guitar itself gets to the point where it basically falls apart and needs maintenance every month or so. Now I hardly even touch this guitar and am thinking about throwing it away or just displaying it because it always has something wrong with it.

      Excellent guitar, beginner to pro

      By

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I love my little Ibanez here. I never owned an acoustic, having wanted to 'rock out' instead of learn to play well. I got a Fender MIM Strat in '94 and was never satisfied with it. I traded it in and picked up this little beauty, and trust me when I say I'm finally happy. The guitar has a beautiful finish, with the nice cream binding, the frets are nicely sized with little to no string buzz (which is probably just me getting used to it)and the equipment looks nice, if on the plain side. The sound is nice and warm, with good highs and mellow lows. The amp is cool, with controls for Bass, treble and Volume, though I've only used the output to tune. All in all I think this is a good value for the beginner or the pro on a budget. I make it sound nice with my 'new learner again' level of skill, I can only imagine what it would sound like in the hands of someone who actually 'knows' how to play. :)

      perfect for small budgets

Comments about Ibanez V70CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

been playing this guitar for a month now and i have to say that i am definitely an ibanez fan. it fits me perfectly. i tried takamines and martins, but the necks were too skinny for my rather large hands. the neck on the ibanez is just right, and the tone of this instrument is great, after you change the strings that it is shipped with. i read another review before i purchased, and the guy recommended elixir brand strings, but i personally recommend martin strings.light gauge, not extra light, just light gauge.your guitar will sound awesome and i cant wait to go to helen georgia with this guitar and try it in a live setting, plugged into the PA system. for the price you cant go wrong,if you dont like it someone will give you back your investment, but i think you will be keeping it.that is all.
