Thermally Aged Spruce Top

The Epiphone J-180 LS features a thermally aged solid spruce top, which helps produce a warm, balanced tone with solid projection and sustain. As the spruce ages, its wood cells break down, resulting in a more harmonically complex tone. Thermal aging speeds up this process to give the J-180 LS a "played-in" sound right out of the case. The scalloped X-bracing also provides structural support for the top while allowing it to vibrate freely, producing a dynamic, enveloping sound that fills a room.

Iconic “Star” Inlays and “Open Book” Headstock

Paying tribute to the Gibson J-180, this Epiphone version sports the same iconic inlays and “open book” headstock. The stars marking the fretboard are made of genuine mother of pearl, and the famous headstock shape is a timeless Gibson design—also adorned with a star inlay of its own.
