The Carl Martin Rock Bug is an amp speaker simulator and headphone rehearsal unit that operates on a single 9v battery. Just plug your guitar (with or without pedals) into the headphone amp's unbalanced 1/4" input, plug your favorite headphones into the unbalanced 1/4" output and off you go. Adjust your guitar's volume with the headphone amp's Guitar knob, select an open cabinet or closed cabinet simulation with the mini-toggle switch, and wail away through the privacy of your headphones. If you like, use the Carl Martin Rock Bug's AUX stereo inputs with an MP3, CD or DAT player, and either play along or add a personal touch to your prerecorded backing tracks. Thanks to the balanced XLR output, you can connect your Carl Martin Rock Bug headphone amp to a mixing console for recording, solo gigs accompanying prerecorded music, or as a DI for live performance if you're packing light or your amp goes down.

Comments about Carl Martin Rock Bug Headphone Guitar Amp and Speaker Simulator:
I saw a few videos of this Rock Bug and it sounded great so I decided to get one and try it out from Guitar Center. Well this little box is absolutely amazing. I plugin my guitar and my headphones and I have boutique amp natural breakup tones flowing through my headphones. Can pull off a decent clean tone and easily attain a pop rock tone like Petty or the Stones by itself without any additional pedals. It also has an xlr that can go straight to the PA system or mixing board. I did try plugging it into a PA system and it sounded even better. It also let's you plug in your mp3 player, ipod, iphone, android phone and play your backing tracks while enabling you to hear your guitar playing over the backing track. The bottom line is that this pedal serves as an excellent backup if your amp stops working as well as an excellent grab and go solution if you are playing someplace that has a PA system and or decent guitar amp for you to use. Now if you want more sustain and distortion for lead playing then you will probably want to add a distortion and/or additional overdrive pedal that will fit your style of music and the tone you seek. Then again most of us add a distortion and overdrive pedal to our rig anyway. Oh and it is handmade in Denmark. Truly a boutique pedal in it's own right.
