Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

I bought the 14" K "Light" hats for acoustic jazz trio and quartet work. They work VERY well. Easy to control dynamics. Nice closed and open stick color with a smooth splash and "chick" sound. Also work well with brushes. It is difficult to play these hats too loud. Which is their advantage and potential disadvantage. When I play with larger groups or amplification they just don't have the volume or weight. For those gigs I go back to my Zildjian K Mastersounds. The Zildjian K "Light" hats are perfect for those intimate acoustic gigs, which is why I bought them and keep them in my cymbal bag.

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

Most of my playing is in a Praise and Worship Band, however, I also play Jazz and Rock. I should have bought these as soon as they came out. Definitely the best sounding hi-hats I have played since I started 35 years ago. Worth every penny!

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

I have been playing for 40 years this year, and I bought these last year. I have owned Paiste Signature medium hats, Sabian (different pro models) and Zildjian (several sets of New Beats, Mastersounds, and Quick Beats) and these have it all. Not too loud, not too bright, a tad mellow, and just so warm and rich sounding. Nice sizzle and chick. Try these out. You may just fall in love!

    Dark, warm & sizzling hats.

    By Stefan Spang

    from NYC NY

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

The Zildjian K Light 15" Hi Hats have a warm sound that blends in perfectly with My Armand 21" Ride and 18"-19" A/K Thin/Medium Thin Crashes. They respond immediately to whatever you lay into them, may it be quick "barks" or riding 'em halfopen hence, very rewarding, playingwise. Tonally, these guys click, hiss and erupts with dark authority but not in an overwhelming way as they're very easy to control. I assume these are not the first choice for "bashers". If you're looking for some really versatile, musical, hi hats you should check these ones out!

    Best Hi-Hats I've Ever Heard

    By Larry Zalewski

    from PA

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

Spent 2 hours in a drum shop last week, testing ever hi hat they had. The Z light hi hats were so far and away better than anything I played there. Wow! I will own them some day. Trust me it's worth it to have the best. WIll be the only pair you will ever own (or want) if you take care of them.

    wonderful hats

    By phil foster

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

Recently traded in my 14" K Custom Session high hats for the now discontinued 13" K Lights. Like Tim's review, I play often with brushes, rods, and VF AJ6s and 2s in a small, largely acoustic Christian group. The K Customs are lovely cymbals, but I feel the K Lights are an improvement for me in terms of definition and laid back sound. They produce a warm and distinct "chick" and respond musically to whatever dynamic you apply. They really reflect well the nuances of various sticks, brushes and mallets. I can play these open without overwhelming the singers. If you're in a jazz, acoustic, or easy listening situation these are an excellent choice. Love them. To reiterate, I have the 13" K Lights which are no longer available.

Great hi hats for my style of drumming

    By Tim

    from Portage, MI

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

I play drums and percussion in an acoustic band, usually with rods and brushes. When I bought my kit, I went cheap on the cymbals until I figured out what I liked. My old hi hats were heavy Paiste 15" Prototypes. They sounded fine with heavier sticks but did not respond well to rods and brushes. Beyond the popular Zildjian hi hats, GC in my town didn't have much of a selection. I spent the better part of a morning listening to the sound samples on the Zildjian site and found that I really liked the thin, crisp response of the K Lights. I was a little nervous about spending this kind of money on hi hats without being able to play them but I trusted my ear and took a chance. I am very happy with them and would recommend them to any drummer who is looking for a thin, brighter sound. I went with the 14's.

They?re Zildjian K, what can you expect

    By M.A.T.A. 78

    from Puerto Rico

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

Here?s a tip for beginners? drummer: You can always get a good drum set with a low budget. Even if the wood is not maple or birch, you can always make it sound good with a decent change of drum heads. That won?t cost you a fortune. But when we talk about cymbals, boy you can?t avoid expend some serious bucks. The rule is different here, you get low budget cymbals and you get a bad (irremediable) quality sound. If you?re going to invest on a drum set, star with the cymbals, as crazy as its sounds. They?re the expensivest part of the drum set, and they have to be choosing very carefully. With all the K line, you can buy anything with closed eyes. All you have to do is pick the sound that most define your style and your taste. No need to worry for quality here. Oh yes, this hi hats are simple the bests. There?s no word to describe its sounds. And yes they?re expensive, but they?re Zildjian K, what can you expect.

    Adding to the Praises

    By Chungiemunchin

    from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

I got the 16 inchers and love them. The additional playing space sixteen inches affords increases one'sgroove - abilities and the sound when played half open is amazing. When closed loosely they play incredibly as in those funk tunes where the hi hat is as much a character as the snare is for those syncopated rhythms. The only down side is that they are pricey which throws their value quotient off just a little HOWEVER, they're still, in my opinion, worth the expense.

    Best Hats Ever.

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Zildjian K Light Hi-Hat Pair Cymbal:

Simply put, these are the best hi-hats I have ever played (ie. many mastersound variations, k custom dark, k custom hybrids, a custom variations...). Sure the 14" pair will set you back $400, but they are well worth it. Everything you could want in a pair of hats are right here: the stick defintion, the crispness, the wash, and ah yes perfection; again whatever you want in hi-hats are right here. Don't look any farther. You've found the best addition to your set, ever!
