Comments about Vic Firth Drumming Glove:

So, here I am 9 months later and I'm still using these gloves. Others are saying that the grip dots/pads come off, but I'm not having that problem. It makes me wonder if some people are using these gloves for things that should be done while wearing heavy-duty leather work gloves.

Others are also saying that the middle, ring and pinky fingers need to be grippy; I haven't needed that yet. If anything, I'm glad they're not grippy. I had that kind of grip on a previous pair of gloves (Pro-Mark's gloves), but now I can see that I don't need it or want it because fast finger-control movements are easier with these gloves due to that lack of grip. Even when the fulcrum is mostly between the thumb and middle finger, having grip only on the thumb and forefinger is still more than enough. Dare I say, it's absolutely perfect. Well, they could shrink the grip area down to only where it's needed in order to increase the mesh area, but still.

The mesh on the palms isn't a problem for me either. It's nice to have breathable/ventilated palms. I sweat very easily, so the more breathable my gloves are, the better. That's one of the reasons why I bought these gloves: they're very well-ventilated.

Finally, I find that it's easier to play with these gloves on than with bare hands (and also than with Pro-Mark's gloves on). I think it's due to the super-grippy thumb and forefingers. It enables my hands to be more relaxed and I can focus on the music more. I used to just wait for my hands to start sweating a little bit so that I can have more grip. Thanks to these gloves though, I get all the grip I could ever want right from the very first note.

Here's a durability tip: these aren't work gloves, so don't expect them to be so durable that you can abuse them. After all, they're only designed using drum sticks to play music. If you're going to use these gloves for anything else - or if you're going to be rough on them, then you do so at the risk of ruining your gloves. Treat them well, just as you would a musical instrument.

Comments about Vic Firth Drumming Glove:

I thought these might be better than the all leather Ahead gloves but they did not work for me. They are lighter the Aheads and I thought the fingers would provide a better grip (I'm rather weak gripped and use Vic Grip sticks) but they didn't. I also did not the like the mesh on the palms as they made the sticks feel slick in my hands.

        Great feel but not durable

Comments about Vic Firth Drumming Glove:

Very comfortable and excellent feeling. The little rubber pads give very good grip on the stick, and no more blisters! BUT, after ONE show, about 3 hours of actual playing, the rubber pads are completely gone off the thumb and index finger of my right hand where the stick lays. No more traction there. I play somewhat hard I guess, but not super hard by any means. Pretty disappointed with durability....
