Taylor’s 114ce Special Edition acoustic-electric guitar is not only gorgeous, but it also offers all the desirable components you will ever need in an instrument. Like many Taylor-made acoustic-electric guitars, it features a solid Sitka spruce top and sapele back and sides. Its design combines specific tonal wood and was carefully crafted to produce a more pronounced dynamic range. For beginners who are about to embark on their guitar-playing journey, this guitar is certain to grow your playing capabilities while manifesting overall playing satisfaction. Taylor’s uniquely constructed neck makes playing barred chords easier than ever. Each instrument in Taylor’s 100 Series models include a sturdy, custom fit, gig bag.

The Shapely Grand Auditorium

The Grand auditorium (and its shape) truly bolstered Taylor’s iconic guitar sound. From light fingerpicking to full-on strumming, this guitar produces hearty, resonating, harmonically beautiful blasts. This guitar reverberates soaring warm tones and is well-versed across the tonal spectrum. It serves as an all-purpose guitar that players of all levels will appreciate.

Wood Choice Matters

Most modern acoustic-electric guitars feature a Sitka spruce top. Its blended elasticity and naturally stiff characteristics give the guitar larger tonal capabilities but also bright and snappy precision. The back and sides are comprised of a weaved sapele that is strong and reactive, in nature, to the string’s vibration energy. Layered wood is known to be less sensitive to changes in weather and moisture, making these Taylor guitars a top choice for the touring musician.

Electronics

Taylor’s Expression System 2 is their heart and soul, a behind-the-saddle pickup featuring three individually placed and precisely tuned pickup sensors. The sensors don’t sit directly under the saddle and that allows the guitar bridge to connect fully with the saddle bottom, enhancing the full tonal capabilities of the guitar to cut-through, whether it is plugged in or not. While plugged in, the 114ce Special Edition has maximum wailing potential because the sensors’ placement is designated to produce its highest volume. Taylor’s patented professional audio preamp is exemplary in resounding tones whether it’s plugged into a PA system, an acoustic amplifier, or directly into recording software. A 9-volt battery is required to achieve full signal, and bass, treble and volume controls are easy to manage. You can always rely on this Special Edition Taylor to truly represent your most authentic sound.
