Sabian HH Rock Ride more than a Rock Ride!

By

from Aurora, IL

Comments about Sabian HH Series Rock Ride Cymbal:

The Sabian HH Rock Ride is much more than it's name implies. As a heavy weigh cymbal, is it very well suited for rock but it goes well beyond that. Some players might be frieghtened by the title of "Rock Ride" thinking it might be metallic and non-musical. That couldn't be more wrong! The HH method of hand hammering brings out a tone that is both shimmering, and focused. As compared to an AA Rock Ride for example, it is a tad drier but more tonal and rich in overtones. Clean stick definition is present and the HH bell is strong yet very balanced and fitting to the rest of the cymbal. It is well...musical and well suited for Rock, Jazz (larger settings...not in a small group) Latin, Funk and Pop. The only draw back is the price. As the most expensive line, the HH models cost the most money. But for good reason. The overall blend of clarity, tone, and musical focus makes this a very flexible and yet powerful cymbal. Try one....you will not be disappointed! Then BUY ONE!

Perfect Sound

By

from Groton, MA

Comments about Sabian HH Series Rock Ride Cymbal:

It is bright and lively. Somewhat quick sustain but with very little overtones. It ads an amazing touch to so many different styles. I play rock/prog rock and the only negative point I could provide is it does not last under heavy playing. I bought it new and with regular cleaning, proper stroke angle, and around 15hrs a week playing it cracked in 2 years. Those 2 years were worth it. Highly recomended under light to moderate playing. For harder playing a thicker HH model would do the trick.
