If you are using a metal snare and you are looking for more depth, this is THE head to use. I put a 14" Skyntone on my Brass snare, it has the best tuning range of any head I've used. No matter how low or high you tune the ring is nice and controlled, and there is always full bodied tone without any muffling. And it does so easily. I don't think I would use this on a wood snare, it really controls the high end ring on metal and I feel it would take away from the crack of rim shots on wood snares.
I play all styles of music, and have been experimenting with different snare heads for years, and finally Remo is really onto something here. This is my favorite head that I've ever heard on a snare. I would go ahead and say that it works for every style of music, however it is not the most durable, so for metal and heavier music its not really econmical. The sound is sort of hard to explain but I will say that is very warm and the ring that you hear with this head is minimal and the ring itself has a different sound to it than any other head. This head is amazing.
