Affordable performance DJ controller made to utilize the power of Serato DJ Intro software.

Pioneer's DDJ-SB 2-channel DJ controller is designed for use with Serato DJ Intro software. The DDJ-SB features similar operability as Pioneer's extremely popular DDJ-SX and DDJ-SR. More compact and portable than the other models, the DDJ-SB is designed for the entry-level DJ who wants the same look and feel as the upper models but with more basic operability and at a more affordable price. The DDJ-SB uses the Serato DJ Intro software and incorporates four performance pads, large jog wheels, and a new Filter Fade function that assists users in smoothly blending together tracks of different styles.

Mixing with Serato
Serato DJ Intro - The DDJ-SB is packaged with Serato DJ Intro software and its layout mirrors Serato DJ Intro's interface, so getting hands on with the controller's tactile buttons and dials soon become second nature. Serato DJ Intro provides an out-of-the-box experience with Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Sampler and other cool effects. For expanded functionalities and effects, the controller can be used with Serato DJ (optional, paid software) offering users the ability to arrange tracks using Slip Mode, access various effect functions available from iZotope, and record tracks with DJ mixes using the record function.

Performance Pads - Four rubber "performance pads" enable DJs to trigger Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Manual Loop and Sampler, while a further four pads give immediate access to Play, Cue, Sync and Shift functions.

Filter Fade - The new Filter Fade function takes mixing with the crossfader beyond simply fading the volume on one channel up and the other down. By hitting the Filter Fade button, DJs can add two high-pass filters to the crossfader. This allows both volume and base filter to be manipulated using just one hand. Seamless mixing becomes effortless, and DJs can use their spare hand to unleash their creativity, triggering samples, loops and cues.

Professional Design - For a stylish and sophisticated look and feel, the DDJ-SB sports the same premium look as its big brothers, including large (112mm) aluminum jog plates.

  • Got this after returing the Hercules RMX2...very glad I did!

As reviewed by carson on 7/8/2014

I got this after returing the Hercules RMX2...and am very glad I did! The Hercules has a Mic gain issue, which made it unusable in a live setting like a wedding where talk over is needed. There are many things I like about the Pioneer. 1. No external power supply needed. USB provides all needed power. 2. Better sixe for road cases. 3. Works very well with Virtual DJ once you download the mapping from the link provided on the pioneer website (also can be found by google. Use "Virtual DJ Pioneer DDJ-SB" as your search string. Only bad thing is no Mic on button, and the volume is a micro knob on the side. This means that your mic is always hot unless you have a on/off switch. I would like to see this change.

  • A good controller but has a flaw.

As reviewed by landon hamamura on 4/19/2014

I bought this controller for traveling. However, I did run into a problem with it and I do warn people. The Jog wheel got stuck within 2 weeks I purchased it. I did my research and this happened a lot to people as well. I'm still a Pioneer fan and continuing to buy their products. So if you want to buy this controller I would recommend buying it from Guitar Center. Their return policy is amazing and the employees were very helpful, so I was able to get a new controller the day after my controller broke. Also, if you are going to make this your primary controller and do not want to upgrade I would recommend on buying the warranty protection. So overall, I really like this controller it just happened to break on me. But I got a new one and its still going strong. Thumbs up.

  • Amazing entry level controller

As reviewed by Nathan on 7/24/2014

I have been using Technics for the past 4 years for all my gigs. I love them and will never part with them, however lugging those puppies around for my gigs got old. Another factor in my transition was due to Scratch Live no longer being supported. Unfortunately I was only Using SL1 and knew it was time to transition to Serato DJ. So I decided if I was going to make the transition I wanted to try an all in 1. For an intro level controller this is an amazing product, and to be honest if you know the ins and outs of Serato there are some functions you can do with other cheaper devices (i.e. cheap midi controllers, Serato Remote and Mini Remote) that you can't with the DDJ-SB alone. That being said you don't need a hyper expensive controller for to do everything you want. The aluminum jog wheels are sturdy, it is lightweight and there are multiple functions available making it easy to use with Searto DJ. There are a few downsides: No XLR outputs; built in mic gain is hyper sensitive with no EQ controll; the chasis is plastic (albeit a study plastic yet plastic nonetheless). Finally the controller only comes with Serato Dj intro which is a sorry software and doesn't unlock all the features of your board. If you want to use all the features you need to play another $130.00. If you prefer you can just buy the DDJ-SR instead of paying the extra cash. However what sold me on it was a 4 year warranty through guitar centers pro coverage. Thus with the 4 year warranty and an upgrade to Serato DJ later I paid a total of $497.67. As I stated some people would rather just buy the DDJ-SR for that price but a device like this needs a long warranty. Needless to say guitar center offers a great deal on this device.
