Overview

The ValveKing Royal 8 is a true Class A guitar amplifier designed to give players the punchy dynamics and tones that inspired rock 'n' roll's greatest riffs. Perfect for rehearsing, the Royal 8 combo amp features the simple interface of a single tone control, dual inputs, and master volume and gain controls that can be adjusted for either class A "breakup" power amp tones achieved by reducing the gain and increasing the master volume, or preamp distortion, which you can access by reducing the master volume and cranking the gain. The Royal 8 amplifier's single-channel design emphasizes the dynamic relationship of the power amp components to produce volume and headroom that belies its small size and wattage.

Crank Up The TUBE!

By M!K3Y

Comments about Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 5W 1x8 Tube Combo Amp:

I got this amp about a month ago and let me tell you, if you're on a budget like I am, this is definitely the way to go. If you've never owned a tube, this is an affordable amp that's good, but with a little extra cash you can make it great! The simplicity is great. Just straight forward with the tone, gain, and master volume. Fresh out of the box the sound is a little muddy but the responsiveness of the tube is still felt (and I love it!). I dished out and bought a replacement Jensen CR8 speaker, and JJ Power and Preamp tubes and now this baby SINGS! It sounds AWESOME! Cleaner tone, better overdrive and still everything for on a budget. Kudos to you Peavey.

Best 5 watts money can buy

Comments about Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 5W 1x8 Tube Combo Amp:

I was looking for the right sound in a solid state amp and kept getting let down. I prefer the blues and southern rock and just couldnt find that sound. Then I was introduced to the royal 8. WOW!!!!!What a sound from a 5watt tube. My brother is a professional guitarist and swears by tube. The sound belittles solid state amps. Enough said. Great Job Peavey.

Terrible Amp

By VTAmpsUSA

from Rochester, NY

Comments about Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 5W 1x8 Tube Combo Amp:

Worst sounding little amp I have ever played... steer clear! Harsh, trebley and just plain ugly sounding. I'm sure the stock speaker isn't helping but it is just a poor amp in general.

The sweet sounds of tube!!!

Comments about Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 5W 1x8 Tube Combo Amp:

In my previous ignorance I thought what was the big deal with tube amps. Are they really any different than solid-states? Well, after this purchase I realize the answer is yes. There is a huge difference. I was really blown away by the tone and how it just blew my solid-state out of the water. And this is only 5-watts, but those 5-watts are plenty. One of the things I love about this amp is its simplicity; 1 gain, 1 tone, 1 master volume, power switch and input/output jacks. That's it. In this case less is more. And the tone is really warm and crisp. I'll never play solid-states again. I highly recommend this as a great, inexpensive practice tube amp. Great job Peavey!!!
