Let me preface this review by saying I don't need another amp. In my backline rotation, I have 3 Mesa Boogies, 2 Fenders, 1 Marshall, 1 Orange, a Genz-Benz...well...you get the idea. I had to say that to say this; I just brought home this little 30-watt and a 1-12 stealth cabinet. I was mildly shocked when I heard this amp with one of my guitars. The clean channel, while not perfect, is more than adequate for the jazzy/bluesy stuff that I play. The lead channel can go from a tight crunch to a roaring high gain tone. This amp is perfect for smaller venues, where my Mesas can't really stretch out and do their thing. By the way, I just caught a fantastic deal on my amp....GC in Baltimore is blowing out their SE amps. I bought the 30 watt head and a 1-12 cabinet together for a little more than the 1-12 cab is listed for.....this is one of the best deals you will ever get on a pro level amp.
This amp has a fine tone and can fill any gaps we might create on a night out. I Love mine.
This amp sounds nearly as go as it's American model. You can't go wrong, the tone is awesome.
Had this amp for about 6 months, and though not perfect, I really dig it. At 30 watts, it doesn't break your back but has enough volume to cover a loud band/drummer. Easy to adjust for different sounds, the EQ is responsive but not too touchy, and no gimmicky features to suck the tone out. The rhythm channel gives awesome Fender style cleans and vintage crunch, and the lead channel goes from a nice crunch all the way to modern rock with lots of gain. Plan on using it at stage volumes though, the sounds are great when cranked but can be a bit dull at bedroom level. There are some really nice extras on this amp too. The level switch on the loop makes using delay pedals a breeze, and adds a lot to leads. Plus these amps come loaded with JJ and Tung Sol tubes, not cheap no-names, and the build in general is very solid. I did notice that it took a while to break my amp in, the overdrive was a bit harsh at first but it's much smoother now. Overall, this amp has only been getting better for me, it sounds great with my band and I plan on using to cover plenty of other territory too. Definitely worth the price if you want to step up from the entry level tube amps!
