Comments about Mackie Mix8 8-Channel Compact Mixer:

I bought this mixer at my local Guitar Center (Johnson City, NY). I like it a lot, and have used it for live sound support. (I am a videographer). It's small and simple. The only drawback is when I am using it in my home studio. The headphone/CR output is POST the main out. So lets say I want to listen to my headphones only and kill the main speakers. There is NO WAY to do this without unplugging the main out. Same with the Control Room output. This is a major drawback, and while I will likely keep this for live sound support, I am now in search of a new mixer for my home studio which will give me a headphone/CR out which is completely independent of the main.

    • Splitting to 2 Pair of Balanced Outs

Comments about Mackie Mix8 8-Channel Compact Mixer:

I picked one of these up today after I sadly found out that my NI KA6 couldn't actually output to 2 pairs of monitors simultaneously unless it was in monitor mode. I was very disappointed in that, since that device comes with software and is non-returnable. Oh well, my fault for not researching better I guess. I have a pair of Rokit 5's and a pair of Rokit 10-3's and I wanted to use them at the same time. What to do. Some people said to use a splitter to split the balanced output signals, and other people said that was a horrible idea. I didn't know what to do.

I was very glad to find this little device. I now have it set up to output to my 10-3's as the "main" outputs and to my Rokit 5's as the "CR" outs and it works wonderfully. I have my NI KA6 on input 3/4 and my Traktor S8 on input 5/6 and the whole setup works excellent. I can use the separate CA knob to balance the Rokit 5's out since they get bright on some tracks compared to the massive 10-3's. Sound quality is excellent and the device is cake to set up and use. I really have no complaints for what I'll be using this little guy for.

Comments about Mackie Mix8 8-Channel Compact Mixer:

Its nothing short of amazing. I found this device to be very functional and reliable so far. I just purchased the mix 8 a few weeks ago. The things I noticed off bat was Its durability/ sound quality for a small compact mixer, it feels solid but not heavy. The only thing that I would add, was XLR outputs for the main outs in addition to the 1/4 in out's. When it came in the mail I had a gig that day and could not use it right away. But over all i think its the best bang for the buck especially because it sounds amazing!!

Comments about Mackie Mix8 8-Channel Compact Mixer:

Great little mixer. Very compact and light. Great sound quality and easy to use. Lots of punch. The only thing I noted is that the knobs are all plastic. They're a little hard to turn since they're pretty close together. If they had a rubber surface, it would make it easier to grab with your finger tips.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that needs to record/perform as a solo artist with vocals and guitar and backing tracks. The sound quality is excellent and would put it on par with others that are more expensive. You get a great deal for the price of this unit.
