Continuing the evolution of the MB Series, the MB800 bass amp head from Gallien-Kreuger features incredible output, increased functionality, and a completely discreet FET-driven preamp. With 800 massive "GK watts" of power, the MB800 can handle even the largest venues without breaking a sweat, and at 5 lb., neither will your roadie!
All of the MB800's controls are lit to indicate the current operating status, including input clip, tuning mute, Gain A, Gain B/Level-B, power amp clipping, limiter enable, and EQ/Contour settings. The same FET technology used to create the legendary boost (G.I.V.E.) circuit found in all GK amplifiers for over 30 years is used in every stage of the MB800 preamp. Using FET devices to drive the GK four-band active EQ, Contour, and Gain allows the MB800 to transition seamlessly from a full, warm, clean tone to full-on GK growl.

Features: As I admitted I have only had a few hours of playing around with this thing but I am impressed. It is not hard to dial in any tone I am looking for, the EQ is easy to use, and it has 2 channels that are footswitch controlled allowing you some additional control. Footswitch and cable come with the head, do NOT have to buy separately. Quality & Reliability: This is a new product and I have not had it long enough to know how reliable it is going to be over the long hall. The shell seems like it will hold up though. Only time will tell. Also you can't go wrong with GK costumer support/service. Sound: This is a full 800 watt amp head. I have played on some "high watt" amp heads that didn't produce the sound, tone, or volume I was expecting. This is not the case with this amp head. As I mentioned before I was able to get an array of tones out of the head. And if volume is something you are looking for, this head will for sure give you plenty of it. Matched with the right cabs I would see no reason for you needing a "bigger" or "louder" head. Look & Feel: This is what makes this amp different from the others on the market. It is light and easy to carry. Very low profile. The illuminated dials make it easy to read, and look cool in low light :). First gig with it is in a week. Ready to stretch its legs.
