The Evans Onyx drumhead were created with the intent of developing a black alternative to the standard G2 Clear and Coated drumheads. The series prompted the Evans team to experiment with a variety of black films and coatings before settling on a combination that not only results in a new aesthetic but also an appealing sound for the Evans drumhead line.

Included in this Evans drumhead pack are two plies replacement heads of 7.5mm film that will deliver enhanced durability while making the drums cut live. A micro-clear coating gives the Evans Onyx drumheads a matte black appearance, produces more low end, and a punchier attack.

Features
  • Two-ply 7mm film
  • Rock drumheads: 10", 12", and 16" heads
  • Standard drumheads: 12", 13", and 16" heads

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

Took a leap of faith and bought these babies on the strength of the reviews posted on this site. oh so pleased with that leap. They rocked right out of the box. Nice deep resonant sound. I'm a bit of a novice who grooves with the bottom end tribal sound and they grooved right along with me. They ooze quality and endurance. And cant help but to put in a confirmation here. "... once you go black...." super, super sexy.

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

I've used all sorts of heads over the years and these heads are awesome and durable. Love the sound of these heads and tuning was quick and simple as if they are already pre-tuned. I recommend these for those looking for those qualities in a drum head.

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

At first I did'nt like the sound of the onyx head on my snare. Now that the heads are broken in they sound amazing. These heads give me the clear, defined, deep sound im looking for. The tom heads sound unbelievable when recorded. if you buy any other drumhead, you're missing out

        Pretty good...

        By David Walker

        from Huntsville AL

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

I think these heads are pretty good. I do feel that I get a lot of ring out of them. It might be because the drumheads I had on my set before these were the Evans Hydraulic ones. I felt that those dampened the ring a whole lot. I just put some of the gel squares on each tom and that seems to work for me. I will probably get the hydraulic ones next time.

        Evans Onyx 2 Drumheads;

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

Evans heads give me the best sound, with high quality. They're heavy duty 2 ply construction gives me the sound I want to hear, and they look cool too. If you're a heavy hitter these heads are the best choice you could make.
The best heads on the market, in my opinion
Well worth the price, for such a quality product.

        Just amazing

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

These heads are the best heads I have ever used.I have a Ludwig Accent set, 12" 13" and 16" toms originally had stock Ludwig heads. I replaced the batters with these, still have stocks as resonant, but they dramatically changed the sound... I'm trying to fix the echo they give... i think its just the room, because a friend of mine has the same heads and they're great! Maybe I should fiddle around with the tuning a bit more and see what fits. But definitely a good head!

        Great Sound, Long Lasting!

        By Austin

        from Wichita, Kansas

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

I've had these Onyx drum heads for about 5 months now and they sound awesome still. They have a great punch and short sustain just the way I like it. The flat black color on them looks great. My only problem is getting them to tune, for me they aren't easy to find a really good tone but once you can find one it sounds great!

        very great sound

        By chris

        from pittsburgh, pa

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

before these heads i used to use remo pinstripe, let me tell you, those heads made my drums sound awesome, but then i decided to try a different head and a different brand, so i tried evans onyx. These heads make my drums sound so awesome you dont even know. since they are coated it takes out any unnecessary overtones, and also it has a great attack to it. these heads are definately worth the extra money.

        Best. Heads. Ever.

        By Old Ancestor

        from The Swamp

Comments about Evans Onyx 2 Drumhead Pack:

I reheaded by toms tonight with the Evans Onyx rock pack (10",12",16", plus an 8" ordered individually) and can say, without a moment of doubt, these are the best tom heads I've ever heard, and I've been playing nearly 30 years.I have a deep-shelled Yamaha kit made of birch, which sounds great but can be a bit boomy with the wrong heads. These Onyx heads came highly recommended, yet my one concern was the supposed "fast" decay. I don't like boomy, but I didn't want heads that sounded like they were choking out either.I had nothing to worry about. These heads are very musical and offer a nice, warm pop when struck, with an even decay. The stick definition is amazing and the bounce is lively (perfect for quick flourishes). They're probably best suited to rock, fusion, or progressive rock, especially if you have a lot of toms and like to do long fills. Very Rush-like tones, circa Moving Pictures. If you are into accoustic jazz, they're probably the wrong heads, as they're not very mellow. Maybe not so great for real heavy rock either, if you're looking for a lot of natural reverb and thunder. They're incredibly easy to tune as well. I had all four heads on and tuned in less than 30 minutes. I can't speak for their durability, since I just put them on, but I assume they'll last for ages. Evans heads are virtually indesructible in my experience.
