Hear your solos like never before.

Ernie Ball 2715 Cobalt Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Slinky Electric Guitar Strings are the perfect hybrid set for those who like thick bottom strings without sacrificing the ability to solo on smaller strings. The Cobalt Series is clearly an improvement on its classic nickel-wound counterpart giving the player increased sustain, clarity, and output. In addition, they resist sweat and moisture better and have unmatched flexibility when compared to other nickel wound strings. Cobalt is the most magnetically active string alloy on the planet and attracts the magnets in your pickups more than any other string.

"Ernie Ball Cobalt Strings sound and feel better than anything I've ever played! You have to check these out!" - Slash.
"Cobalt Strings feel incredibly silky under my fingers and deliver more punch, output, and clarity than normal strings!" - John Petrucci.
"There's a certain degree of clarity and punch you get from Cobalt Strings that I haven't heard tonally from any other strings I've played." - Joe Bonamassa.

All Ernie Ball strings are precision manufactured to the highest standards and the most exacting specs to assure consistency, optimum performance, and long life. Made in the USA.

I've heard a lot about these strings, and decided to get a set to string on my Epiphone Les Paul Nightfall. Despite many saying they have a brighter tone, I didn't find that. They have a mellower, darker tone that compliments my Les Paul well. What people may have been noticing is the clarity of these strings. Even when setting my rhythm pickup to 2 on single coil and putting heavy distortion through it, it rang out clear and articulate, as opposed to the muddy tone I'd been expecting. I have to say I don't know if I'd pay double the price of the standards for these, but I'd definitely take these over a standard set anytime. The clarity and sustain of these strings is perfect for clean or heavily distorted tones. I would definitely recommend them.

  • These may be my new favorite.

I really like the sound and feel of these strings. I'm no pro but have been trying out new strings every few weeks or so for quite a while. This is the first set I have tried with a heavy bottom and in no time enjoyed the sound and feel, better than the standard cobalt 10's. No problem bending these either. I occassional had a problem with the bottom string falling off the side of the neck while playing - because its a '77 fender mustang which seems to play the best with heavier strings. I like the 10's and this set fixed the problem and sounds the best to me, so far. As a side note... I also have a great set of Pickups installed which are the Lindy Fralin Blues Set ..... very nice. very nice. very nice. And with my Mogami cord, I can actually hear the differences.

Switched over from regular skinny top heavy bottoms. As can be expected, these are hard to knock out of tune, even right out of the package. They feel a little better than the regular strings; maybe not as great as they're advertised, but when comparing to the regulars, it's hard to make a huge improvement. I will say they don't feel quite as cutting as regular strings, but I can't feel a huge difference (probably because of the huge calluses on my fingertips); I'm thinking the difference would be more apparent to a beginner, with less callus buildup. Sound: amazing. Brighter and punchier than the regular slinkies. I've noticed my dirty tone is a bit edgier, and at the same time more defined. My cleans seem to cut through better with these strings, which is great when I need more subtle fingerpicked riffs to be heard over the bassist. The differences between these and the regular slinkies are subtle, but I think they're worth a few extra bucks.
