Classic electric guitar string tone dates back to the 1950s, when pure nickel was the primary alloy used. As the need for brighter tone and higher magnetic strings grew in the '60s, nickel-plated steel became the industry standard. D'Addario XL strings feature nickel-plated steel, but these EPN110 XL Pure Nickel guitar strings offer a warmer, vintage tone alternative which many enthusiasts prefer.

  • Just Mellow Enough

    I first tried these because I wanted to get a bit more classic sound from my Peavey Predator. DAMN! The highs were attenuated perfectly, the lows didn't get muddy, there was plenty of attack, and they just make that guitar sing like it was fresh from 1957. I highly recommend these for anyone with a shrill treble problem; these strings will fix that in a hurry.

  • Versatile Strings, Great Feel

    These D'Addario pure nickels are pure gold. Beautifully warm on clean channel, but plenty of crunch when you need it on OD. They have the perfect feel -- not too scratchy, not too slick -- and the evenness of tone between the D and G strings is remarkable.

  • Excellent Strings

    I tried these out of curiousity as much as anything else, and I gotta say these strings are incredible. I went with 10-45, and I find them to be very responsive with a classic full tone. They are only on my PRS 24 right now, but I can see them being rotated on all the rest.
