This product works great, buy the cutting tool, only way to really have this come out good. I have installed 3 of these.Place head on a small block of wood, install outer ring, as per instructions, flip head over, install inner ring, and carefully use 2 screwdrivers to work the lock ring into place till it snaps in, all the way around. looks, and works great.

Really, really horrible execution of a fine idea. The idea is that there's in inside ring and an outside ring, both adhere with adhesive to the head and snap together to form a tight fit with no rattles. Well, both rings adhere to the head just fine, but do not snap together easily or well. I'm not an inexperienced drummer, I'm used to doing all sorts of self modifications, but I could not get this product to work. No amount of force and effort could get the two rings to snap together. After close to a half hour of heaving and hoing, I ended up leaving just one ring (the flat internal one) fixed to the head and threw away the outside ring. This is a terrible product, should not be on the shelves.

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

simple easy product...I had already "melted" a hole by map gas heating the rim of a SS bowl and pressing it through where I wanted it. I got luck and this fit close enough to work well. You will absolutely have to remove the head to install. I honestly just worked it (inside lock ring) around with my hands and a drum key. Put outside down on a solid surface and it's pop on about the time you think "man this is gonna be close" No problems. I'd have ordered the chrome one but just got the black 6" to start with and see if they work. They do...the problem reviewers probably are just not "handy capable" It's a simple product...can't see any better way to accomplish what this does. Reinforces mic hole and gives it a clean proffessional apearance. Allows you to adjust your muffling as well.

Love these things. Love the variety of colors and sizes. I just got a green chrome one for my Ludwig Keystone mint oyster glass kit, with black reso... looks great. Takes the buzz out of a naked hole. Yea.. I'm a beater burier, so I use them on all of my bass drums. Way cheaper than a kickport, and does pretty much the same job.

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

Recording a bass drum with a closed reso head often results in mud. It's best to mic from inside at the beater for a solid, clean thump. The Bass Drum Port "O" solves the problem. The installation is a bit tricky, as the two halves must be correctly snapped together on the first try. I suggest laying the head face down on a solid flat surface, and snapping the two halves together with a soft-faced hammer and a block of wood. The improvement in the mic'd sound is well worth the effort.

Looks great on my 28" green glass glitter bass drum!

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

Already put comments in the first section because I wasn't paying attention. One more thing though. If you need one of these right away, you are in trouble. Like so many other things I get from MF, it was back ordered for like 3 weeks. No bueno.
What can I say... it's an "O". The one I got is metallic green, and looks great on my off white Fiberskyn, on my green glass glitter bass drum.
If you need a port, and some folks don't, I recommend this one. It comes in lot's of colors, and a few sizes, not sure what they are, you will have to check for yourself.
This port holds fast, and secure. No rattling, won't come off. BUT you MUST install it correctly without forcing it. If you force it, you will end up buying a new head, a new port, and spend some money in anger management. I suggest going on youtube and watching a tutorial. There are a few good ones on there and it might save your sanity if you get help with it. It is not as imbecile proof as it looks, so trust me, watch a vid before you try to install this.
The only reason I didn't rate this the full 10 is because the instructions are vague.
It's plastic. But suits the need.
Forget how much it was, wasn't much though, or I would remember overpaying.

                  Drum Port 4"

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

It was the wrong size; double check your measurements. I have a 22" kick drum and I thought the hole is 5", but the MF associate said they did not have a 5" port. I ordered a 4" & 6", but neither fit. Fortunately, I aldo have an 18" kick that should work for the 4". I will probably send the 6" back.

                  It's not rocket surgery

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

I'm quite surprised at the number of people who are having trouble cutting the hole themselves. If you passed 5th grade art class, you can install this. I shouldn't have to say this because it's painfully obvious; install the adhesive ring on the inside FIRST, then cut the hole from that side using the adhesive ring as a template. Really, that's it. Snapping the outer ring onto it can be a little tricky, but by no means should it result in breaking, splitting, or ripping anything. Do as another reviewer suggested and use a screwdriver or two to work the flange over the adhesive ring. C'mon people.

Comments about Bass Drum O's Bass Drum Port"O":

Garbage. You have to take the drumhead off to install, and then it doesn't snap together properly with the adhesive failing.... Buy the Remo and Aquarian instead.
Horrible... They don't snap together at all. These are more of a hassle to install than Remo Dynamos or Aquarian Port Holes.
The adhesive failed on the front mounting piece. Had no problem with the "female" ring or cutting the hole. Everything went wrong when it came time to install the front "male" ring, the adhesive failed and it only snapped on half way. The hole I cut was more than large enough. Now I have to take a quality Remo Dynamo of a larger size to cut over this just to be able to keep the drumhead.
Cheap plastic.... Failing adhesive... They are expensive
