By ACE.KING

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I bought this mic as the last addition to my home studio. This mic is awesome. Very clear vocals. Alot of my friends have come over to use it, and have asked to borrow it because they liked it so much.

What a GREAT mike!!!!!

By Kidterry

from Central North Carolina

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I use this mike to record vocals and guitar. Although I own some sure mikes, I only use this one for lead vocals or quartet/trio combinations. For a hundred bucks, buy 2 !!!! Highly reccomend this one!

Hey, mine was free!

By darren

from Undisclosed

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

Yep, got it with a Presonus Eureka channel strip. The ridiculous thing is that this mic kicks butt! When used with a pop screen this is my favorite vocal recording mic. My other condenser picks up everything in the room, but this one does a nice job of delicately picking up what you put in front of it. The sound is very transparent and uncoloured. For lots of fun, try running your voice through this, then a distortion pedal. Monitor it with open headphones.

No Coloring at all

By Allen KV

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

first when I got my MXL 990s I thought that it was the best thing ever. I found that there are better mics out there with a similar price. So I bought the Audio Technica AT2020 and man, This mic produces your actual voice. I record a friend who spits it and his real voice sounds the same on the record. I'm sure its enough info for you guys, same sound in the software as the original !!!

My favorite microphone

By Chris

from San Clemente, CA

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I use this microphone to record vocal and acoustic guitar and it performs like a champion. It picks up everything perfectly making it easy to find a good placement for it, which is very important when mic'ing an acoustic guitar. For vocals I couldnt ask for more. You probably want to get a screen so you dont mess it up though. This mic is great and is worth ever penny!

Sound Great!

By Brian Jones

from Virginia Beach, VA

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I finally got to use these as drum overheads tonight...I was VERY impressed! I have used it on Acoustic and Electric Guitars and also Main Vocals and I liked them..but I REALLY liked them on my drumset as overheads...I ran them through a Pre Sonus ADL600 mic pre and it was ultra clean! I think I have a new fav mic brand seeing as the AT4050 has become #1 on my vocal takes in the studio...def a great buy!

The mic doesn't work on a Mac.

By Jack

from Saskatoon, Sk. Canada

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I can't seem to get a decent level with this mic. I use a Mac, and it could be the computer's issue, as I've heard the same from other Mac users. Regardless, the mic is useless to me, whatever the cause of this issue.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I use this mic in my home studio recording setup and the clarity and bass response are remarkable for something in this price range . I have used this for vocals and record acoustic guitars . It is so easy to get a good clean signal within minutes guess you could almost call this plug and play with a few small adjustments on gain structure your set to record .I highly recommend this mic for any recording studio.

On the Bright Side, It Ain't Dark

      By Thomas Cox

      from Virginia

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

Good thing is you get sharpness, clarity, openness, low noise, and durable build quality. Downside is it's anemic on the lows and low-mids, has elevated upper mids, and a somewhat harsh and sibilant top end. It's hyped in the upper end of the spectrum. Therefore at worst it can make a neutral vocal sound thin, honky, harsh, and brittle. But it's nowhere as harsh and brittle as the MXL 990. The MXL V67g errs in the other direction, warm and smooth to the point of being dark and woolly. The AT2020 is great on acoustic though, really brings out the vibrance of the strings. Overall, for under a hundred, the AT2020 is a great mic, especially if you properly EQ the highs and upper mids on vocals. It's a very good mic, but not a really great mic.

I use them to record with, live talk on the air, and even use them on stage occasionally and they never let me down. Way to go AT!!!

Great studio mic for a Mezzo

                  By Michael McNerney

                  from Castaic, CA

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

Back in the days when state of the art studios were bulked down with Otari analog tape decks, I owned a recording studio in the San Francisco area. Our mic selection ranged from Shure SM33 and 55's, RCA 77dx to Neumann M269c, various AKGs, Sennheisers, etc. I have to say, however, that with all the firepower we had available, I don't think anything made my wife's voice shine as well as the AT2020. I'm not saying this mic is for everyone, however, as a professional mezzo soprano opera singer who also belts jazz, this mic loves her tones. It's durable enough to handle the massive presence she can create, without sounding tinny, shrill or muddy. As a mezzo, she has more than a three octave range and the 2020 performs beautifully from her lowest, chocolate tones to the near glass-shattering highs. Every voice is different and should be evaluated individually before making a mic selection, but for our needs, the AT2020 is the perfect choice.

I was done with headset mic setups so went in search for a good quality Condenser Microphone that would meet my Gaming, Streaming and Work Teleconferencing needs. After a lot of research and comparing the AT2020 with mics from Yeti and Razer I was confident in choosing the AT2020. The quality is better than I expected, I often get a sound check from coworkers and the response is always one of disbelief that I am using a Condenser mic on a boom over my monitor - the sound is crystal clear and with no interference or noise. If you go with the non USB model,, make sure you match the XLR cables and phantom power source / pre-mixer quality with the quality of this microphone and you will not be disappointed.

The Audio Technica AT2020 is my very first foray into the wonderful world of cardoid condenser microphones. As an amateur radio operator, or a ham radio op, I must say this microphone is superb in every way. My reason for giving Ease of Use a "good" rating is like I said, this my very first cardoid condenser mic, I didn't know anything about phantom power supplies or the like. Now that I do know, and have this as my main microphone for my radio station AI4HO, Alpha India Four Hotel Oscar. I have and still receive unsolicited great audio, or, you sound great, what mic are you using. I tell them an Audio Technica AT2020..doesn't everybody use this mic?

If you don't know anything about cardoid condenser microphones and are looking for a really, really great inexpensive microphone, then the AT2020 should be first on your list. While this is a great mic for studio both pro and home studio work, this mic also works well with instruments such as the drum, guitars both electric and non electric, tambourines too work well with this mic. Or, if you are a ham radio op like me and want something different in your arsenal of mics, this is it, look no further. The AT2020 by Audio Technica is a microphone for any and all, pro and amateur alike will enjoy the responsiveness and the rugged durability of this microphone. Thank you all for taking the time to read my review, and many thanks go to Audio Technica for building a superb mic in every way.

I've been using it for my acoustic lately and it sounds pretty good but if your planning on really trying to put your music out there with good sound your going to want to do better than this. Let's just say it's a good beginner's mic...for the money

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I own it since 1 year ago and I could realize it has a pretty good range of tones. I like the sound of at3035 but to my voice, it's too medium tone. Even you get better mics, keep it, cause it may help you in some situation you can't go too bright but clear, you can go wrong.
