best Drumhead for best tight sound....

By Landyman

from New York

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:

if you are looking for a drumhead that really keep the "tune" without you having to tune it often, this head is for you. Very strong for those heavy hitters and still sounds great no matter how you tune your snare. i am about to order a new one....the previous one lasted me more than a year.....great value.

Great Snare Head

By Tyler

from Colorado Springs

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:

This drumhead can really crack and be very loud;but it does have a slight overtone(which can't be heard when you're playing). There is a specific way you have to tune it to make it have a great sound. You have to tighten it slowly and make sure the bottom head is a little bit tighter than the top. you have to tune it pretty tight and have the snares at medium tension.

Aquarian Hi Energy Works - Loud Or Soft

By Mike D

from Wisconsin

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:

The Aquarian hi energy snare batter is as versatile head as I've ever used. I've changed batters and resonants on my entire kit several times in the last 6 months, looking for that perfect combination. For my snare, I installed the Hi Energey three times, and that is what I'm using now. I kept going back to it. Along with the classic clear resonant, I find them both to be able to be tuned at various tensions for different feels and sounds. The best part is that the head sounds good being hit hard and being played soft. I never lose that snare sound. And the head cuts through very well. Even if you don't use Aquarian on your other drums (though you should check them out), you really need to try the Hi energy snare batter along with the classic clear resonant head.

Great Head, but technical tuning.

By Gavin

from Fair Oaks, CA

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:

The Aquarian Hi-Energy Head is very good, soon we will have to be matching electronic drums. it takes a lot of tuning. if you wan't it to sound better you have to tune it a little different than the basic tuning. but once you get it you will be blown away at its amazing sound and texture. i give it a 5/5.

Comments about Aquarian Hi-Energy Drumhead:

After hearing this head on Chris Adler's snare and thus finding out Aquarian even existed I opted to do some research on these guys ad try them out. I bought one of these heads and it is my go-to head for volume and attack. Absolutely perfect for metal, hard rock, or even gospel. I've used it in all three applications for the past two years along with an Evans Onyx and it blows me away every time I hit it. The only thing to be a bit weary of is it has quite a bit of ring to it and thus requires some external dampening which of course works against the volume and takes a lot of it out. But I've found cutting a Moongel up into small squares and placing them in a circle around the edge you can compensate for both volume and ringing.
