Just picked up this new Acoustic BN115 NEO 15 cab today from my local Guitar Center. I wanted a basic 15" cab to use here at home with my tc BH-250 and my 74 Dual Showman. I was actually surprised when I tried it out. It sounds full with lots of punch and midrange growl. Good bass from the rear ports. Delivers everything you come to expect from a 15 " speaker. Speaker is a nice cast frame NEO not sure who makes it though. Tweeter is basic and just has an on/off switch. It works but I don't use tweets anyway so no big deal for me. Solid build and the construction is very good. Tolex covered even on the baffle board. A quick look through the rear ports shows the plywood cabinet is fully braced and damped inside. Weight not too bad at 47 pounds. Cabinet has caster sockets but mine was a floor model and the last one and didn't the casters. Not sure if they are supposed to be included or not. Just an FYI. The Ernie Ball casters that Guitar Center sells fit the sockets perfectly. Overall a nice import cabinet.

I enjoy using a 15" bass cabinet for that deeper tone color. I use this cab in combo with the boutique 12" Acoustic cab or with a 410 Acoustic cab. For years I used a double 15 cab but the sound was often muddy. Sometimes you need some higher frequencies for songs other times a deeper tone. I use an Ashdown 210 on occasion and you get the out of phase sound of the different manufacturers cab builds. It sounds smoother staying with the Acoustic name. The best aspect is using a 40 pound bottom cab and 30 pound top cab. For years I rolled a folded W 18 cab and that puppy was beyond heavy. Great sound but you had to have a truck just to get it to a gig. You prayed there were no stairs to climb or four foot stage to load and unload. Technology made being a Bassist a lot more fun. I used a GK700 15 for years and at a mere 90 pounds wae a piece of cake. I love that sound and it will also drive the 15"" or 410 or 12" cabs. I like to use the Acoustic 600 to push any combo of cabs. Technology has made being a Bassist a lot more fun.

I pair this cabinet with an Ampeg Portaflex head and get great sounds. It has very fat bottom end and makes the walls and floor vibrate. Yet it has great mid-range punch and high end (you don't need 10s for that!). It feels sturdy and is very easy to carry (less than 50 lbs). There are caster sockets but I have not installed casters so I don't know how it affects the sound. My only complaint so far is there is no cover available for this cabinet. I like to protect my investments so I am disappointed there is nothing available to prevent dings or water damage when transporting.

  • Excellence as expected.

I have used Acoustic Amps exclusively since 1974. I expect nothing less than the best bass sound possible and this cab does not disappoint. Used in club setting and was perfect. Excellent tone.
