Gretsch Guitars

collapse expand iconDescription

This Gretsch Guitars G2657T Streamliner Center Block Jr. is an exhilarating double-cutaway electric guitar that delivers high-gain performance, effortless playability and show-stopping style. With updated features and "That Great Gretsch Sound," the G2657T is designed to crank out hits on any stage.

Powerful Broad'Tron Pickups Provide Robust Tone

The secret behind the G2657T's tone lies in its Broad'Tron humbucking pickups and spruce center block. Tailored for the Streamliner collection, the Broad'Tron pickups produce tight bass, crisp highs and a throaty midrange. A spruce center block reinforces the body while reducing unwanted feedback, enabling volume-friendly performance in any venue.

Traditional Controls Shape Iconic Gretsch Sound

The G2657T's sonic power is harnessed by traditional controls—independent neck and bridge pickup volume knobs, master tone control, master volume knob and three-way pickup switch. Add shimmer and expression with the Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato tailpiece. An Adjusto-Matic bridge and synthetic bone nut provide superb tuning stability and intonation.

Fast-Playing Neck and Elegant Appointments

A 12"-radius laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and pearloid hump block inlays sits atop a thin U-shaped maple neck—ideal for chords or solos. Classic Gretsch style abounds with enlarged F-holes, vintage-style knobs, white binding, tortoise pickguard and nickel hardware.

Smaller Body, Big Sound

Though more compact, the G2657T produces a bold tone. Its arched laminated maple body resonates while remaining lightweight and balanced. Two sharp-looking cutaways provide easy upper-fret access.

collapse expand iconFeatures

  • Gretsch has pulled out all the stops for their stunning G2657T Streamliner Center Block Jr. Double-Cut with Bigsby electric guitar. Its design catered to three specifications: ample gain, comfortable playability, and a one-of-a-kind style. This slick music-maker offers all the newest features to maximize that amazing Gretsch sound we all know and love. Since the inception of rock n’ roll, Gretsch guitars have resonated on the radio waves, and each of their beautifully manufactured guitars has even more bells and whistles.

    Unique Features

The G2657T Streamliner is dressed in Broad’Tron humbucking pickups and feature an all-spruce center block, two components that were originally designated for the entire collection. The Broad’Tron pickups greatly improved its articulation potential, allowing a snappier bass response, crystal-clear highs, and edgy middle tones. The low-weight spruce center block reaches the entire length of the guitar body, adding strength to the build but minimizing unwanted ringing and squeaks.

    Classic Layout

Gretsch chose a traditional layout for the neck and bridge pickup, master tone and volume controls, and three pickup switch options. Easily add some high-end pizzazz to your sound with its Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato tailpiece. The intonation is stabilized with the hearty Adjusto-Matic bridge and coupled with a synthetic, slotted bone nut; this guitar is properly suited for producing enchantingly pleasing harmonics.

A Vintage Vibe for the Modern Player

The Indian laurel fingerboard has a 12” radius harnessing chic pearloid Hump Block inlays, and 22 large frets line the U-shaped neck profile making soaring solos and barre chords easier to achieve. Gretsch’s distinctive control knobs, three-ply tortoise pickguard and rounded overlay maple construct give it a truly classic style. The large F-holes increase the output of sonic blasts, and cool, white binding and sleek nickel hardware portray a vintage vibe. The chic G2657T Streamliner offers ultimate playability due to its small frame. The modern musician will love to get this vintage showstopper in their clutches.

Not bad for the money, SOUNDS GREAT

I bought this in store because I loved how it sounded, but I knew the Bigsby was going to annoy me. I could have probably gotten away with some nut grease and a roller-saddle, but since I was ordering parts, I put in a TUSQ XL nut and ratio locking tuners. Out of the box, I could see the saddle flexing when I used the tremelo arm (and no, I wasn't trying to dive bomb). Now, I can actually dive bomb with it and it stays in tune. As other reviewers have mentioned, the tremelo arm is a bit high. It has a 1" spring. I replaced it with a 7/8" spring and took out a plastic bushing that was in the bottom. Also, if you string this with 8's it seems to raise the arm a good bit as well. I have it set up with a set of 10s right now, and the tremelo arm is perfect. After getting it home, I started to have issues with the pickup switch. I really didn't feel like taking it in, so I worked the switch back and forth about 100 times, and it cleared up. Gretsch should really use audio taper pots instead of linear taper pots. I will probably change them out at some point. The pickups sound great, and I love this guitar. For the money, I think it is really worth it.

Beautiful design and color, but poor finish work

I love the size and feel of this Streamliner Junior. Lightweight, nice neck width, good electronics. But very disappointed with the final execution of paint and buffing. The plastic coating is sprayed on very thick and has air bubbles trapped. When these are sanded down and buffed, many are left in the finish as "divots" that do indeed show up. I looked at 5 total Streamliners and Juniors, and every single one had the same finish issues. I'm no paint finish expert but it seems that just a bit more time in sanding and buffing and this would all be taken care of. I love Gretsch and have 2 others about 8 and 6 years old, with zero finish issues. Maybe a bit more training of the new paint technicians, or give them the time they need to be actual craftspeople rather than giving them a quota that they have to meet..I did buy a Streamliner Junior, the one with the fewest noticable air bubbles/divots, but only because I really love the feel and weight. I wish GC would step up and sell these as factory seconds rather than saying "here it is, take it or leave it, for full price" This definitely lowers my opinion of Guitar Center's attention to quality. When I pointed out these problems in store, I was pretty much told, buy it if you want it or "there's the door". Not the GC I have been used to in the past. 1 star for GC

#sweepstakes I love my Gretsch. It is stunningly beautiful and plays with ease! If you are going to enjoy playing, you may as well feel great about how good your guitar looks and plays! I headed in to Guitar Center with a list of about 8-10 guitars to check out and the cherry red Gretsch was the winner! I went home after checking out many guitars and slept on it a few nights; I was dreaming about that pretty Gretsch and jumped on line to order it. Delivered to my door step for free! Nice!!

I am a student and this guitar is just what I wanted for bending notes, especially on the lower end of the neck where there's more string tension. It's perfect for me. I love the tuning stability, the fretboard is a dream, the neck shape and size is great for my medium sized (women's) hands.

I went into Guitar Center that day to look at Gretsch guitars. I had never played one before. I had done some research and wanted to look and play a Streamliner Center Block Jr. The first thing I noticed is how lite and small it was. And the neck just blew me away. It felt great. It was easy to get to all of the strings and frets. And move up and down the neck. The setup was low just like I like it. The construction and build quality was really good. I couldn't find any flaws in it. And the sound and sustain was good. And better yet it sounds like a Gretsch. When I started playing this one it was like it was made for me. You don't have this happen very often. So of course it came home with me. And even better it was on sale.

Which case or gig bag would be best for this guitar? I'm not sure what will work properly with the bigsby tremolo, and I don't want to damage the bridge or mess up the tuning by putting it in the wrong case and having pressure on the arm.
