Maple wood provides a lightweight alternative to Hickory. Maple sticks produce dark tones on your instruments and offer a softer feel. Supplement your favorite stick with a maple version to give your playing a new, yet very familiar treatment.
Zildjian's Maple DIP models are treated with a double coating of their exclusive DIP grip. This provides a desirable backweighting to the stick that is particularly noticeable in the lightweight maple models. If you're looking for a stick that gives you the maxiumum grip to relax your hands and still be light enough to fly, Maple DIPs are for you.

I purchased these sticks to see if they really do give you a huge improvement on grip. Sure enough, it's actually difficult to drop these (even if you want to). The green dip creates an incredible non-slip surface that works so well, you'll get blisters if you don't loosen your grip! These sticks are made of maple, which makes them VERY light. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your preference. It also makes playing at home a little quieter, but it's not a huge decrease in volume, so you could still use these at a gig if you wanted. The only downside to these great sticks is that they are rather flimsy. They will break much faster than your average hickory drum stick. I've already gone through four pairs, and they were awesome (my favorite drum sticks so far), but I can't keep buying a pricey stick model if it's going to break on me twice as fast. But if the price isn't an issue for you, it might be a good idea to buy these in bulk. I will note that I purchased the Super 7A, and these are probably the least durable out of all the models. 5B would obviously last a bit longer. All in all, great set of drum sticks. The only reason they don't get a fifth star is because of the low durability.
Love the feel of these sticks but concerned about life of these sticks. Need something with less mass on cymbals etc and still keep a bigger stick in hand. But broke first pair after 2 rehersals and 1/2 of first set. If they will last they are the answer.
