Overview

Part of Yamaha's L Series, the LL16RD features all-solid rosewood back and sides with a hand-selected premium Engelmann Spruce top. A newly designed bracing pattern and A.R.E. treatment create rich warmth and open resonance while maintaining excellent tone balance. In addition, a new comfortable neck profile and Yamaha's Zero impact pickup ensure you a stress-free performance on stage.

A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.

New Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series' characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone.

High Comfortable Traditional Neck Profile
A reevaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today's traditional players. The new design offers stable grip and smooth playability over the full length of the neck.

5-Ply Necks
The 5-ply neck of mahogany and rosewood designed with a volute at the headstock plus a double action adjustable rod creates a neck with excellent strength and stability.

SRT Zero Impact Pickups
The SRT Zero Impact Pickup system is a newly developed passive type pickup configuration designed to minimize the pickup's impact on the tone and traditional appearance of the instrument. The system utilizes individual piezoelectric elements for each string to faithfully reproduce the dynamic sound of the L Series and give the instrument outstanding presence when playing in a band.

Comments about Yamaha LL16RD L Series Solid Rosewood/Spruce Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Simply wonderful instrument for the price!! All solid wood with gorgeous abalone rosette coupled with maple binding around body, She's totally dressed to kill!! Japanese factory built in China, quality controlled by Japanese...arguably the finest luthiers in the world. The action was perfectly set by factory right out of box. The sound/tone on this guitar is incredible, very balanced and if I could describe it would be right between the sometimes 'muddy' Martin & the bright 'tinny' Taylor. The techs/sales associates could not stop raving about the quality AND sound of this guitar for the price!! My only gripe is that the saddle, nut and pins were plastic. I've since upgraded the saddle n nut to bone, and bridge pins to ebony with an abalone dot. Simply put I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!

Disappointed

By William Zielinski

from Pa

Comments about Yamaha LL16RD L Series Solid Rosewood/Spruce Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The good first: Beautiful guitar with an exceptional spruce top and very nice real rosewood back and sides, light, wonderful to play i.e., I had a difficult time staying away from it (the neck is superb), huge voice and sustain. Disappointed big time because the neck was finished VERY poorly. Below the 14th fret to the soundhole it was as if someone tried to finish the neck binding while it was on the guitar and as a result the neck binding had a washboard texture and was uneven. One of the snowflake inlays on the fingerboard was a problem for the person charged with putting those in and as a result was dished out and hazy and scratched. One of the position markers on the neck binding split the neck binding and near the nut there were two colors on the neck binding (yellowish and white). I sent it back. I have a less expensive Alvarez, also made in China, finished beautifully (to the point I was actually impressed with the way it was finished). So, home run for Yamaha in some ways and a "strike out" in the way they didn't pick up the mess with the neck. It had a huge QC tag hanging from the neck showing it passed inspection and it may have, though the lights were OFF when they performed that inspection.
