I had this brand of guitar for three years. I don't prefer yamaha guitars. I do not trust these guitars at all for playing on stage. Sure, I might be "hating on" Yamaha guitars, but I have played other guitars about the same price as the one I have (which looks similar to this one) and it sounds much sleeker. I do have to say though, the looks of this guitar is good. Also, the guitar is very lightweight. It has retained the same look, but scratch and wear is shown if you look fairly close enough. I don't think the guitar is capable of fingertapping, I have tried, and it sounds mediocre at best. Overall, the guitar is a good starting brand, but to soar in your musical goals, I prefer something better.
I've owned other guitars prier to owning this one, and it's not a bad guitar really! The neck feels slightly wider than the one on my Epiphone Les Paul, and the sound isn't quite bad either. I bought it being drawn in by the Sonic Blue color, smooth neck and cool looks, and I don't regret it at all. I keep it as a backup and for the sake of buying a guitar with some single coils and a wammy bar. The only complaints i have is the ringing of the tremolo springs, but that could happen on any guitar. The only think I'd change would be beefier pickups, but i plan to swap those out someday anyway.
This guitar is a HUGE DEAL for the price, It was better than I expected.
To be honest you are not going to regret.
