Sound and looks that evoke the spirit of the warrior.
Named for a 16th-century samurai, the rugged Yamaha Musashi Oak Snare Drum is constructed in 7-ply oak and produces aggressive, bright, and remarkably loud sound.
Before I even bought this drum, I tried it out at two different stores, and I loved the sound. It even still had the factory heads still on it (I've later changed those to a Remo Emperor -- I've got the 6.5" model). This was pretty rare because snare drums usually don't sound good at all (to me) at stores. I bought this snare to replace the factory snare on my Yamaha Stage Custom kit. I've been so pleased with this that I use it at all my gigs. It's got a great "crack" to it and it cuts through the music really well. Not to mention it looks great and has good stage presence, since I wanted to stick with wooden snares.

I own many different snare drums..mainly play on my 14x5 Pearl Free-Floating maple, but when I tested this one out in the store, I had to get it. I play a lot of gigs( covers and originals)...This drum sounds great mic'd and I am really pleased with the "tight crack" along with some depth..I got the 13x6.5. Just put an Evans EC2 head on it and you'll be amazed!!!

I tried one recently at gc and found it to be one of the best sounding snares Ive played...I perferer a differnt style throw off but other then that it was the perfect sound I have been looking for it looks amazing is smaller then a 14 so I doubted it till the stick struck the head and I taken back by the soild crack with literally no overtones and yet not a dead sound it has amazing volume. havent tried it under a mic yet but would love to

I bought this snare 2 years ago when I went to visit relatives in Atlanta. Being from Canada the cost of this snare, even with the $ exchange was too good to pass up. I own a Ludwig custom kit and the snare that came with this kit, well, it?s a 14? Ludwig, need I say more, okay but hollow. I tried a lot of snares at the store but when I tried the Yamaha 13-6.5" I knew this was the one. When you play a drum you either find your self in the ?zone? or not. The sound is crisp and in your face under tension and mellows out under lower tension. This makes the Musashi a very versatile unit. With very minor baffling (1-2 moon gels) you can eliminate the already low over tone/ring. The finish is exquisite and the quality is #1. The only minor draw back?. I think Yamaha could of beefed up the snare tension adjuster a bit; it?s good, but a little week for such a powerful drum. Very, very minor.

Hello everyone, my name is Johnathan Connors and I have used maybe on of the best snares on the market. It has a wonderful high-pitched sound & it blends in perfectly with my entire drum-set when I use it. It may cost a pretty penny but it's worth every penny.
