  • I'm happy

As reviewed by Dr O on 3/3/2009

It seems to me like a great bargain for a beginner guitar. I wanted to learn to play the guitar without paying a fortune. This one includes a nice acoustic guitar that is pre-strung, an electronic tuner that is easy to use, picks, spare strings, a soft case, a strap, and an introductory DVD. The case and strap are made from plastic. The case could use a pocket for the tuner, spare strings, etc. Without instructions, putting on the strap is surprisingly difficult for a beginner. All in all, I am very satisfied with this Yamaha guitar that gives me everything I need to start lessons at a price that was much lower than I could find elsewhere.

  • Yamaha Gigmaker Acoustic Guitar Pack

As reviewed by Guitarist2009 on 4/29/2009

I bought this one month ago, to teach myself how to play guitar. I'm pleased with it overall-it is easy to tune, has a bright tone and excellent sustain, and the sound projects very well. The only additional accessory I needed was a capo, though I also bought tortoiseshell picks because they produce a warmer and richer sound than plastic ones. My only complaints are the occasional fret buzz, particularly on the lower frets, and the fact that the high-gloss finish appears to wear off the edges of the guitar quickly. I am going to try replacing the brass strings that came with the guitar with D'Addario Bronze strings, to see if this helps reduce the fret buzz. I will eventually upgrade to a solid-top acoustic-electric (Yamaha or Ibanez), but for now, I'd say this guitar is an excellent choice.

  • Great Beater Axe

As reviewed by NeilYoungisGod on 2/9/2007

I bought this guitar as a beater second guitar -- the folks at GC were surprised that I was actually looking for a laminate top guitar but I want something to take camping, play outside and not have to worry about dents, etc. I have to say that I was blown away by the quality of the instrument -- clean construction, tuners work great, sound is clear. Replaced the brass strings with phosphor bronze 80/20 12s and I am not sure I hear $250 difference betweeen this and my Yamaha FG750s (which is an amazing axe).
