I need to connect my Les Paul to my Marshall JCM900 SLX and my Egnater Tweaker. This box is on almost every famous guitar players equipment list so I tried it. As soon as I stop playing there is pretty loud hum. I don't have problems when plugged into each amp individually but they don't like each other when using this box. NO GROUND LIFT SWITCH!!! If it did, my problem would be solved. Oh well. Looks like I have to return it (to the website, my local store didn't carry this) and try a different box. Just got a Radial reamping box which also caused hum through either amp but it has a ground lift switch which made it TOTALLY silent. The Radial ABy switch has a ground lift so I guess I'll have to try that one. How disapointing!!!

A solid but overpriced AB switch

By Anthony "Ace" Aros

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

Don't get me wrong, this is solid and bullet-proof but unless you can get one on sale, I'd find something cheaper. This is real quiet and moreso than a cheaper model so it really depends on your needs and budget. If you're looking for the best and can afford it, this is for you. If you're looking for a cheap way to to the A/B thing and a little noise won't kill you, then find something else.

Optical and Invisible

By Vanilla Gorilla

from Corona, CA

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

Who needs True Bypass when you have optics. This thing is sweet. If I couldn't step on it then I wouldn't even know it was there. There is absolutely no difference in my sound, no color at all. I can switch from A to B, B to A, A to both, or B to both with out thinking. There is no switching noise or clicking at all. If you're smart enough to use two amps to build a great tone than be smart enough to get this ABY box.

Very Happy with the result

By Dan K.

from Columbus Ohio

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

Couldn't be more happy with this pedal. It's compact and very well constructed... switching between channels or turning both on is incredibly smooth. **No** disturbing background noise whatsoever when switching between a & b. Has the round 9 power input so I all i needed was a $3 1/8" one step converter to hook it up to my pedal board... Needless to say I would definitely recommend the whirlwind if you need to use 2 guitars into one amp or 1 guitar into 2 amps.

Nice A/B box

By Cameron

from Wheaton, Illinois

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

I bought this A/b box used for half the new price. It works great, with silent channel changes and easy to set up and use. I would say the retail price is a little overpriced so I would try to buy it for less, but it is a great A/b box and i highly recommend it!

Best in this price range

By Joshua Hainsworth

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

I use this pedal for running an electric and acoustic into a BOSS GT10 into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for live shows. I tried out a couple other AB and ABY pedals before grabbing this one. All the other pedals either majorly sucked tone and made it sound like I was practically playing underwater, OR they boosted the signal so much that even my clean channels sounded gritty. This one has hardly any tone loss (a tiny bit, but it is hardly noticeable, and no one in the band even noticed but me), and more importantly there seems to be no signal boost, so my cleans are still sparkling and my OD's and Dist's are only as dirty as they should be. If you're looking for a way to run two guitars into one amp for under $100, this is the best way to go in my opinion.

    Kind of lacking...

    By Richard LaFontaine

    from San Diego, CA

Comments about Whirlwind Selector A/B Box:

I purchased this selector box so that I could run 1 guitar through two amps. Not only was I disappointed in the loss of tone, which was way to extreme, but I was also disappointed with the amount of noise/hum it created while using a power supply. The noise/hum was not an issue when using the 9V battery, but I hate buying batteries all the time because it's just not very cost friendly.
