Overview

The V847A Wah-Wah pedal is an enhanced version of the most famous guitar effects pedal of all time. Based on the specifications of the original pedal developed by VOX in the '60s, this version offers guitarists the same legendary tone with the addition of AC power capability and a buffered input jack for preserving the unprocessed guitar tone when the pedal is not engaged. The pedal's inductor has undergone a redesign to be closer in specification to the original VOX wah inductors, for improved dynamics and tone. These additions will benefit players of all genres who use a wah pedal as an integral part of their sound.
About the Wah-Wah
VOX developed the world's first Wah-Wah effect during the '60s in an effort to allow guitarists to emulate the sound of a trumpet being muted - an important musical ingredient of the day. VOX's original Wah-Wah pedal quickly gained widespread popularity and its unique sonic characteristics have encouraged further experimentation by guitarists ever since. Having made spotlight appearances on some of the most famous recordings of all time, the Wah-Wah is still considered "must-have equipment" for guitar players of all levels and abilities today.

This is now the only wah I will use. The other guitarist in my band is not crazy about this one but this is the most original sounding wah I have ever use. There is a reason for Hendrix using this pedal. It doesn't just wah it has its own voice. It really screams through a strat but it isnt as agressive as a crybaby which I will get for my metal tones. Buy this pedal.

I've only had this pedal since Memorial Day Weekend and, despite the great looks and sturdy housing, I must say that I am thoroughly unimpressed with the reliability of this pedal. Between the squeaking hinges I seemed to have fixed, then the squeaking noise that started coming through the amp afterwards, and finally the on/off switch that only works when it wants to, I will be returning this unit. I am SO glad I got Pro Coverage when I bought this, a definitely recommend getting that to anyone making a purchase of this product. If have can only return it for a new unit, or have to leave it for 'repairs' under the Pro Coverage Plan, I will still be shopping for a Wah Pedal made by a different manufacturer to replace the Vox 847A on my chain. If I can return it for an 'in store credit' I will immediately shop for a different Wah manufactured by a different company. My experience using the Vox 847A Wah has been extremely disappointing so far.

Best pedal you could buy

By StratoPlayer

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

The Vox wah is one of the timeless classics in music history. From Eric Clapton to Jimi Hendrix it has remaned one of the most highly regarded wahs on the planet. The Vox V847-A works like most other wahs, push down,on,push down again, off, easy. You control the sound by leaning your foot foward and back changing from high to low fequences.

Sweep

By Quinton

from Salt Lake, Utah

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is the most amazing wah I have ever used. It has such amazing sweep that gives you the fattest tone you can find, depending on you taste, of course. Now, this pedal isn't going to get you that metal tone. This pedal Will, however, get you the most incredible Clapton/Hendrix tone ever, if that's what you're in to, and it also gets amazing blues and psychedelic tones, and a decent reggae tone as well. I play a 90s Japanese strat through this wah, a Boss Blues Driver, and a Fender Blues Deville, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Vox is the "wah" to go!

By rockandrolldisaster

from Saginaw, MI

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I went through about 5 different wah pedals including bad horsies, Dunlop, and a few others and finally found EXACTLY what I was looking for in this wah. I tried some of those dunlops that have little buttons and switches to 'control' your tone but they stink. The Bad Horsies were cool, but not really wah per se. This was a perfect addition to my pedal board, finally!

Amazing Wah

By Larry

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I've been playing for over 20 years and my son has picked up guitar. We researched the pedal and found it was used by a few of our favorite players. It is so sweet. The range is very broad and it is the best wah I've used. Don't browse any further, this is the one you want.

best Wah for the under $250. line up.

By Johnny Bingo

from Longview, WA

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

The Vox wah has always been my favorite but this new version of the old standby is really an inprovement. Though not a true hardwire bypass, the signal sucking is really unnoticeable now and the slight volume drop when wah is engaged is no longer. The addition of a standard boss barrel-type power plug on the side is a great improvement as well. I used to have to mod mine myself to easily power them on my boards. And best of all: the better inductor Vox is now using really shows. This is the best sounding standard Vox Wah I have ever had or played through. I am totally happy with it! A friend of mine has a $250 street price wah that I like better as a all-around, pro giging wah but too much money for me right now. The Vox has my vote for best buy and all-around best for giging and rocking wah. Still the one.

LOOK NO FURTHER FOR A WAH!!

By VintageGuitarGuy

from Raleigh, NC

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

This is hands-down the best wah pedal on the market. Crybabys, Morelys, etc. don't come close. It is based on the original design schematics from the '67 Vox wah. Workmanship is impeccable, sound is heavenly, looks the part, too! Why have a black plastic cover when you can have real chrome? Dead-on Clapton and Hendrix tone. Please, don't buy the cheaper one. This is the cheapest glimpse into a real pro's setup you can buy. IF YOU ARE EVEN CONSIDERING A WAH< BUY THIS ONE. IT WILL TRANSFORM YOUR TONE!!

Classic Wah Tone

By Sam

from Lawrenceburg, IN

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I was a little skeptical when I went into GC to buy a new wah. I had an early CryBaby Classic and was happy with it for a while, that is until the pot seemed to always get dirty and the pedal had some sort of volume boost when engaged. All-in-all, I was just tired of it and decided to get a new wah. I was honestly thinking about getting just another classic, figuring that mine just had some bad parts or something. While I was surfing around different wahs, this one caught my eye (I'm easily distracted by shinny objects) and I started reading the reviews. I've got to say there are a lot of mixed review on this product, but when I walked into the store and asked the guy behind the counter if I could try it out, I was instantly impressed. The heavy casing let me know right away that this thing could probably take some abuse. So I plugged it in (plugs work very smooth by the way) and tried it out only to find that it had all of that classic wah tone that I had been looking for for quite some time. It has more of a fluid sweep than my classic which tends to have a bit of a quack right about the middle of the sweep. Honestly, I would have preferred a Budwah or a Tease, but I've got to say that I'm very happy with my purchase thus far. Having only had it a day I can't really speak for it's long-term reliability, but for now I've got to say, it's good.

An iconic part of music history.

By TheBoogieMan

Comments about Vox V847A Wah-Wah Pedal:

I really liked the sweep and control on this wah. For more Stones-styled blues/rock it captures the sound perfectly and does it with a little flash. I tried a range on Dunlops ۡ all good, great actually. But I felt their sweep was almost too wide. Something that might be better for other types of music. And I really could find a tremendous difference from one to the next. Felt a little too "Superfly" to me. I tried the Dimebag ۡ used ۡ it felt a little loose, most likely because it was used. But I didn't love the sounds, even with broader control. And the camo paint job really is for the kids. But it really is geared more toward metal. The VOX was raw, but refined. Like I said, if you dig the Stones "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" style of wah, this is for you.
