These Neutrik plugs are great and are similar quality to what you would find on a high end cable like Mogami. I used these when I made my instrument cables and have also used them to replace old plugs that have broken. If you ever wanted really nice cables but couldn't afford them the best thing to do is get a Weller 25 watt soldering iron, wire strippers and good electrical solder. You can literally save hundreds of dollars making your own cables or repairing old cables.
I had hardly ever soldered anything in my life when I decided to give it a try. The guy at my local guitar store recommended this plug for several reasons: - It has relatively big contacts that are as easy to solder as can be. - It is relatively cheap so if you mess up one plug (which probably won't happen) you can still get another one without being broke afterwards. - It is a high quality, heavy duty device and will itself last forever. - It is well constructed, will go with virtually any cable and and the included strain relief will work with pretty much every cable surface there is, so it's very variably applicable. - Last, but not least, it won't interfere with your sound. And that's a not-at-all-thing! So go ahead, start making you own cables and get as much bang for your buck as possible plus some soldering experience extra!
