Designed to be the ultimate musical companion, now in a mahogany body.

From the couch to the campfire to the concert hall, the 2012 GS Mini Mahogany Acoustic Guitar promises big fun for everyone. This model differs from the regular GS Mini with its bluesy-sounding mahogany body. Inspired by the big, bold sound of Taylor's award-winning GS body shape, the GS Mini scales things down without skimping on sound, packing a lot of tone into a comfortable, portable size and giving you a guitar that's incredibly fun to play. With Taylor's patented straight and stable NT neck, you'll always enjoy signature Taylor intonation and playability. So, wherever you end up, whether you're on tour or on the porch, the GS Mini is always ready to play.

The GS Mini truly sounds like a full-size guitar, and it's not just the volume you'll notice when you strum your 1st chord, but also the depth and richness of tone. The Mini acoustic has a deeper body, a bigger top, and a longer scale than a Baby Taylor. The tone is also enhanced by a full-sized 4"-diameter soundhole and a braceless arched back. The Mini also has the look of a "real" guitar with an inlaid rosette, pickguard, and inlaid purfling lines in the top. Its ultra-portable size makes it a great travel guitar. You can even put it in the overhead compartment of a plane. The Mini also makes an inspiring student guitar for smaller-sized musicians. Includes gig bag.

  • A rare no-brainer in guitar shopping

    As reviewed by D C on 5/29/2012

I immediately knew this little guitar sounded great, but how great wasn't apparent until I stood back and listened to someone else play it. Balanced tone, surprising volume, and a clean low end. The mahogany sounds sooo much richer than the much brighter spruce-topped mini. The action is light and consistent. Neck feels good; width is OK. Taylor precision and quality. Tunes down to Open G without buzz. Tuners are a bit touchy, but for under $500 its not a problem. Taylor has done some magic here.

  • Outstanding Guitar!

As reviewed by Scott Howard on 6/22/2012

I couldn't believe the sound I got out of this guitar. For those of you that don't know, it is considered to be a "7/8 guitar" which means the overall size of the instrument in roughly 87% - 88% of the size of a standard size (more specifically the Taylor Grand Symphony). I debated on either the Spruce or the Mahogany. I was going to get the Spruce top, but when I picked this one up in Guitar Center Cherry Hill, the sound just blew me away right away. The mahogany body gives you a much warmer and rounder tone whereas the spruce top seems to be a bit more projective with a trebly and brighter sound. Although the spruce is supposed to project better, this guitar's tone is fantastic and it projects just fine, and is great for home recording as well. I'm a big fan of alternative acoustic music as well as blues. This guitar is great for those sounds. It's size is just right. I'm 6' 1" and have fairly large hands and I manage perfect with this instrument. It's the most comfortable neck I've played on and I can play smoother than ever. I have yet to get the ES-Go pickup but I hope to eventually. Get this guitar if you want something slightly easier to travel with, can be used equally as an acoustic or acoustic electric, looks great, and holds its own with tone and overall sound. Kudos to Taylor for this outstanding idea! - Scott

  • Absolutely love it!

As reviewed by Nicolas Montalvo on 12/10/2012

One of my students bought a mahogany GS Mini and he wanted me to play it, so I did and I was blown away by the warmth this guitar produces for a steel string guitar. The dynamics are amazing for a small body guitar. I love the shape, design, and feel of the guitar. I love the black head stock which has a classy modern design. After playing my students I decided to get me one for myself and so glad I did. I have not been able to put it down and was jamming with some friends last night and they where impressed that my mini was a loud as their full sized acoustic guitars. After playing it for a couple days I can see, feel, and hear the quality of this guitar. Playing it is like eating a home cooked meal that is prepared with a lot of love and the food tastes amazing.
