This pickup is truely a wonderful experience for me as it has immensely improved the amplified sound of my Fender 12 string & Yamaha acoustic guitars. It has a very bright but warm and well balanced sound. The output you get from it very dynamic and so natural. I used it even with my Hi Fi system and it just produces amazing sound quality with lot of natural warmth and clarity with almost no feedback at high volume unless you are sitting very close to amp. My friends are amazed with the sound it produces. It has a very nice finishing with real maple wood enveloping the magnets so beautifully thats it just looks like a part of your guitar. I even used some effects pedals and it justified all of them remarkably. The cable is of high quality with a metal high quality jack so no problem faced to me so far. The pickup has slots with very durable and soft sponge type pads to prevent your valuable guitar sound hole from scratches. It can comes on and go off very easily in minutes. The pickup unit is very solid indeed as it does not feel like a toy but has got the guts to handle and face all the rough handling while using at home or on the road. I think no one should miss this incredible stuff as it can even make a cheap acoustic guitar sound like pros. Now please do not think over and over again, simply go and get it. Thanks & regards.

If I were rating purely on sound, I'd give this pickup a full 5 stars. But there is a significant amount of hum if you're not sitting EXACTLY in a particular position in relation to your amp; then the hum goes away completely. I have another acoustic with active pickup (bult-in, came installed). I don't have a hum problem with that guitar, regardless of how much I move around, regardless of the position of the pickup in relation to the amp. I'm a believer in Seymour Duncan's products, and want to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I've ordered the HC version to see if this might alleviate the hum issue; I'm expecting it probably will, and I'll just return the SC version for a refund from Guitar Center. Not having a volume control on the unit is a bit limiting, but TONE is the main thing, and the tone is BEAUTIFUL! I can always get a volume pedal, or make sure to have amp PA controls within arm's reach. I don't know what kind of strumming some of the reviewers do, but I didn't find the cord to be in the way. AT ALL. It trails away, downward and out of the way; maybe they're not installing it correctly? That's the only thing I can think of. One reviewer commented that it wasn't loud enough without a pre-amp, again I don't see the problem, if plugged into a guitar amp or PA 1/4" phone out; both of those have a VOLUME control. What seems like a possibly bigger issue in certain settings is that since the pickup's in the soundhole, you can't install a soundhole plug, so at a certain volume, you're gonna hit a "ceiling" anyway regarding volume: you're gonna get feedback if your on-stage volume is too high. Just keep the monitor volume as much as possible, and crank it through the Mains. Bottom line: If you stay in one position and don't move around a lot, such as being seated (as a lot of acoustic players do) you probably won't find the hum objectionable, as you can position yourself to nullify that. If you tend to move around a lot while playing, you're gonna have a hum problem, noticeable especially during quieter passages. I'm hoping the hum-cancelling version will take care of that limitation. If it doesn't, I'll probably still go with a Seymour Duncan, and keep the SC ($10 less than HC). Cuz like I said, you can't beat the TONE! And tone is EVERYTHING.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody SC Single-Coil Soundhole Pickup:

I tried a Dean Markley with my 12 stringed Acoustic guitar (Yamaha) and I felt a lot of lose in the first and last string. This means that only the 3th string had good sound. And without trying this pickup I thought that I was going to be the same... But then I pluged this to a nice amp that I had at a friend's house and I fell in love! Good and strong sound, nothing but what it needed in trebles as also had in basses. After that, I pluged this pickup to my Zoom G2.1u and turned off all the effects and I listened to it with a pair of monitor headphones and of course the response was awesome! The best part is that comes with a nice cloth bag. After 5 years in the "Conservatorio Plurinacional de Música" here in La Paz, Bolivia, I've heard a lot of sounds... but this is one of the best ones.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody SC Single-Coil Soundhole Pickup:

I just got a home studio set up. This has worked wonderful to hook into my condenser and record acoustic guitar and vocals. The pros it fits in both of my acoustic guitars. It gives a good sound, and does wonders for recording. The cons: it doesn't really have a manual so if it breaks/ isn't working correctly there's no resource to troubleshoot.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody SC Single-Coil Soundhole Pickup:

Dern cheap, sounds great, has that nice jangly single-coil sound. It sounds great with my A&L Ami, though it required modification to fit the sound hole. It comes with instructions on how to make the mod, finished in maybe 10 minutes with a hand saw, file and glue. It's single coil, so you get the jangles and great dynamic control, more natural open sound then humbluckers give. The trade-off, if you could call it that, is the distinctive hum that's been a trademark feature of certain sounds and styles. Generally, I wouldn't record with a single-coil pick up on an the Ami, I'd just mic it, unless I was going for that single-coil sound, including the hum.

I own high-end Takamine handmade AE's and Taylor acoustics. This pickup makes my Taylor Big Baby travel guitar sound like my model 810. I'm thinking of getting a cheap Seagull S6 with a wide fretboard and selling my expensive AE guitars.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Woody SC Single-Coil Soundhole Pickup:

I bought this pickup two years ago (I wish I could say it was just because I wanted to be sure but the truth is, just haven't thought about it). I really like the pickup and it does a great job on my acoustic. At the time I bought it the description (changed now) led me to believe it would fit both my acoustic dreadnought and my classical. It does fit the dreadnought but doesn't even come close the the classical. Until just recently I wasn't in need of something for both but now I need to plug my classical in. So, now I am shopping for something to use on it (that is why I remembered to finally put a review of this product online).

I put this in a Weissenborn. It works great! The soundhole is only 3 1/2" but by removing the black spongey material with a long pin and cutting off about a third of it and replacing it, it works fine. Love the sound; very warm.
