  • Odie odie odie... Schwing!

As reviewed by Janitor Julius on 6/29/2009

I'm not a tech spec nazi by any means and I've been on a tight budget... well... forever. Who hasn't? I've been using a Samson R21 for as long as I've been using a microphone (about 8 years now) not by choice, but more because it was cheap way back when, and it was what's been lying around the house. I just bought the Bose L1 compact which is an amazing system for what I need it for (solo acoustic singer songwriter crap, and that's a whole 'nother review) and during the demo at GC the salesman asked what kind of mic I usually use. I told him and he strongly suggested that I get a better mic to take full advantage of the Bose sound quality. Another employee there chimed in "Nothing sounds better than a 935." Long story short, I went ahead and traded up some gear, sold my van, and threw some cash toward this mic and... HOLY TOLEDO! The difference has been described before as "taking your fingers out of your ears" and that's really what it's like. If you're using a cheap mic, this thing will make your sound come to life in a big way. I couldn't be more impressed with it! It's worth every cent! The experience is exactly like the first time I plugged a Les Paul into a Marshall head and got "that sound" (another few grand guitar center made off of me). You can't fake the funk and this mic is the real deal! Full rumbling lows, rich thick mids, crisp clean highs, not an ounce of anything less than perfect! If clarity is your priority, and in microphones it's everyone's, go get this mic right now!

  • No going back!

As reviewed by KJPaul.com on 11/10/2009

I run 4 karaoke nights a week, so my mics get at least 24 hours a week of active stage time every week. The singers ranger from amazing to...well, it's karaoke and some people know how to use a mic, but many mumble or sing with the mic too far from their mouth. I try to do the best I can for them and this mic makes a HUGE difference. Like the e835 It is much more sensitive than the SM58 yet offers amazing feedback resistance, which allows me to turn the gain up or down to meet the singers level way better than the SM58 does. Then it goes from a rumbling low to falsetto like butter and makes even the e835 sound flat. The sound is more rich than hot and it just sounds good. Yes it is a lot more expensive, but I am never going back!
