Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

Well, I bought this 15'' cymbal to complete a set with an HHX 16'' & 18'' Evolution Series, and an HHX 19'' Plosion Crash. I think I'm spoiled by the Evolution cymbals, as they are just perfect in what I want in a crash cymbal. The 19'' Plosion isn't as "shimmery" but it has a full sound and good sustain. But the 15'' Plosion I received yesterday only has about 60% of the volume of my 16'' Evolution and half the sustain. It doesn't sound as clean and doesn't really fit in with the others. I DID listen to the sound samples before buying but it's hard to judge the volume and sustain in a clip. I purchased this 15'' Regular HHX as the Evolution wasn't in stock. If I ONLY had played the HHX Standard series I would be happy but the Evolution series is definitely 2 steps up in sonic quality. They cost a bit more but well worth the money and the wait... If ever you want the PERFECT crash cymbal get a 16'' Sabian HHX Evolution. WOW.

      Love this crash

      By Tim Husted

      from Tampa

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

I really love this cymbal. Have an 18" Bright crash AAX that compliments it. It's very dark and harmonic and develops brighter the louder you play it. It's like a Kzildjian mixed with a AAX explosion (my 16inch cymbal). I play with a local band and when they heard it they immediately noticed a difference from the AAX dark crash that I used to have. "Slices through guitar chords like a samurai" my bassist said, haha. Moreover this cymbal is much louder than the bright crash, so if you're looking for something more balanced for all types of music try the Evolution crash. It literally explodes at high volumes. Considering getting a 20" now for more power. If it ever cracks (and I hope it doesn't) I'll replace it immediately.

Don't let the name fool you!

      By GretschFan-nY5a3

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

Don't let the name "Xplosion" fool you, these are not one-dimensional cymbals. I have a full set of HHXPlosion crashes (14",16",18") and they sound amazing. I've always played brighter cymbals (AA, A Custom, etc.) and when I was looking for a more versatile sound I decided upon a cymbal pack with HHX Studio crashes. Well, the vendor sent the wrong pack and I received the HHXPlosion pack by mistake. I am so glad, since the XPlosion line sounds amazing. I added a 15" as soon as I could. The 14" and 15" sound like small crashes and not splashes, like in some other cymbal lines.

Each cymbal has a defined note and decays quickly. The bells are excellent and the crashes sound amazing live. I can play them softly and they speak clearly then get out of the way, or crash heavily and cut through guitars like butter. Cymbal swells sound like orchestral cymbals.

      HHX X-Plosion 15"

      By Andrew Bolasky

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

The only thing i cn say is, if you're looking for a good secondary crash, this is it. If you don't believe me, try it out first, at a local music shop or something.
I LOVE the sound of this crash. I didn't want a fast crash, i was looking for a standard crash sound. 15" was the only size available, so i looked up a couple reviews (on this site), and decided upon the HHX. I can honestly say, it is FANTASTIC. The sound clip on the Sabian website doesn't do its smooth as butter, shimmering sound, the LEAST bit of justice. As has been mentioned before, it is full, and sounds almost like a 16" crash. This is exactly the sound i was looking for.
Straight out fo the box, i could tell that this was a gem. Flawless surface, polished to a mirror-like shine. Sabian gets an A+ for that, "OOH. SHINY." factor, lemme tell ya. It doesn't feel flimsy at all.
I can't really say much about the price, since i got it for free. I can say, if i had heard it in person before buying it, i would have been on the edge about buying it full price. It's alot for a 15", in my opinion, but the sound absolutely blows me away, so your call.

      Most excellent cymbal

      By Kristiant

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

Let me start by saying that I have way more cymbals than anybody needs. I was at the store the other day just looking at the cymbals, checking them out and came across a SABIAN HHX 16"' Xplosion. I was trying it out and fell in love with it. I toyed with the thought of getting yet another cymbal (that I didn't need) for several days. I went back several times to check out that HHX and eventually ended up getting it. I made room for it on my kit. I just fell in love with the way it crescendos. It has a very musical tone to it, and it cuts through without being over bearing. I love a cymbal that sounds like glass when you hit it and that is this cymbal. I have placed it over between my floor tom and the 13" rack mounted tom where it is positioned perfectly to crash at the end of a fill or a roll. that is what it really sounds good for. The HHX line in my opinon is the top line that SABIAN makes unless you get into the custom made lines like the Paragon. I take great confidence in knowing that each cymbal is hand hammered and tested at the factory, unlike the X20 series which even though it is a "cast" cymbal, no personal attention or craft work is done to it like the HHX series has. I highly recommend the HHX series crash to anybody that is series about sounding good. The Brilliant finish (which mine has) definately makes your kit shine too.

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

i own three of these. two 18's and one 16''. the hhx series has the sweetest sound i have ever heard. none of my cymbals have ever cracked or chipped. and believe me... we gig a lot and our drummer hits really hard. the raw bell sounds amazing. if i ever break one i will immediately replace it. plus the finish is just beautiful. it makes your kit look so nice.

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

I bought this cymbal on clearance at a local music shop and was shocked when I first struck it at home. It sounds like a 16"! It has so much tone for a 15" cymbal, and sustain that you'd find on a 17". Absolutely no "splash effect" on this cymbal!

      Musicality at its best!!!

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

I recently bought a 18in HHX plosion and I was blown away by the tone and musicality of this cymbal. It has a dark projection that gives me chills when I play it. Everyone ask what kind of cymbal it is when they hear it cause it doesn't have the sabian stamp on top. These cymbals top K's & K customs any day and I am a believer in Sabian xplosion series.

      Xplosive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      By wcbj2001

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal has quickly become my favorite. I've been a Zildjian man for years and never gave Sabian a 2nd thought until my buddy got a AAX Xplosion. Man the AAX was far better than my A & K customs hands down. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing zildjian but I know quality when I hear it. The 18' HHX has character, warmth, passion & a voice that speaks thru the music. Zildjans sound good but are lacking that special something that sets the xplosions apart. I'm hooked & out to buy a 17' HHX Evolution to add to my collection next.

      HXXtremely great!

      By That One Guy-BHxol

Comments about Sabian HHX Plosion Crash Cymbal:

Wow! This cymbal has me going. I bought it as a secondary crash to sonically match my AA Metal-X 16" Crash. Boy, secondary is not the word. It's my primary now. The sound booms and explodes, hence the name. The bell compliments it, and you can tap it or smash it to ride it, the possibilities are endless! Get this cymbal, it's amazing. Not to mention, it's very flexible, you can see it absorb the impact after you hit it, it won't break for a long time..
