I bought this pedal board on Friday. I took it to rehearsal and tried it out with a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q, a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and a MXR Carbon Copy. This went into a Crate Palomino class A tube amp. The board added a lot of noise/hiss to my sound. I unhooked the pedals from the board power supply and used batteries. No Noise. The box was glued so well that I shredded one of the flaps trying to get it open and was charged a re-stocking fee of 15% by Guitar Center. They won't see me in their store for a long time as they don't seem to appreciate my business.

The SKB PS-8 is a pretty good starter pedal board, but it has some serious draw backs. I bought this when I was in a hurry to get an inexpensive pedal board easy to travel with, and didn't need a separate power supply. I regret not saving up a bit more and getting a better set up. Pros: Convenient design with power supply built into the pedal board. Good surface area for up to 8 pedals. The board itself is durable and lightweight. If you plan on leaving this in your house and not taking it on the road or even to 1 gig, it is great. Cons: The individual power circuits are not shielded from each other, creating a significant amount of hum/noise when using a full board of effects. This is an issue other power supplies address. The supplied velcro does not stick well to the bottom of pedals and falls off during transport. The "heavy-duty ballistic nylon carry bag" is a piece of pure junk. The very first time I used it the plastic hook on the end of the shoulder strap broke off. After 2 uses, the bag ripped apart. It is the quality of a low end gym bag you get free with a magazine subscription. It needs to be made of canvas or another more durable material. It is neither heavy-duty, nor ballistic. One final complaint is that it doesn't come with 1/4" cables to hook up your pedals. I know it doesn't claim to, however it would be nice and would complete the ready out of the box appeal that made me buy it. Bottom line: If you are serious about your sound, save up for a better set-up. There are higher quality board/power combos out there, as well as better power supplies that you can put on your own board. Both options will clean up your sound and offer more durability. I thought I was saving time and money, but now I am looking to buy a better power supply with less noise, and a much more durable means to travel with my pedals.

Great combination of value and features!

By Tim

from Folsom, CA

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I bought this from guitarcenter.com a few months ago, and I'm really impressed by the value that that this little pedal board offers. Specifically, I like the light-weight and durable injection-molded plastic construction; and that the on-board DC power can handle all 4 of my pedals (EHX mem toy, Ashdown bass overdrive, Boss TU-2, and DS-1)without adding any "hiss" or "noise." One thing that I don't like: where the wall-wart plugs into the board, it doesn't connect very well -- by that I mean when I connected it, the power "cut in and out." I simply rotated the adapter end that went into the board, and it worked fine. I could send this back into SKB, i guess.

Great starting pedalboard

By Dan

from Brownsville, Texas

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

This pedal board is ideal for the guitarist who is just starting. I bought my first five pedals along with this pedal board, and I am really satisfied with it. The power cables attach really easily to the pedals, and the board itself is really light weight. I will totally recommend it for guitarist who dont use a lot of pedals.

Good Pedalboard

By Arlington Houston

from Oakland

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

The SKB PS-8 is a good pedal board for the price. It comes ready to setup with the power cords. If you have a wah pedal you only can fit seven pedals on it just like the photo on the box.The only thing is it gets pretty heavy with all the pedals and the shoulder strap for the bag is kind of cheesy, its not comfortable and needs a shoulder pad for comfort and the weight.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

this pedalboard came with a adaptor to plug it in.had problems within the first month with it just losing power(somehow the adaptor was shorting the signal). All the cables were junk, not durable and didnt even last a year before it all together died. Not recomended for a player gigging often and basement players,if you buy it get the warranty, then you can have a warrantied piece of sh#t.Have to say I knew better bc I have had several skb cases throughout the years, all of them with junky latches.Oh well, live and learn.

Good board, the bag is terrible.

By Austin

from St. Louis, Missouri

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

The board works great, and I've had no problems with it at all. If you're using pedals that have stickers on the bottom ,like most Boss pedals do, take it off first, cause the sticky velcro will pull it right off, rendering that piece of velcro useless, but it comes with a nice strip so that's not too much of a problem. The bag just sucks though. The handle started tearing off in a few days, and the strap it gives you has not only torn off, but ripped all the way down the side of the bag. As a side note, the bag really does just stink. Literally just smells bad for some reason.

Pay attention to total power needed

By Barry

from undisclosed

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

Bought this Pedal Board for two reasons. I wanted an inexpensive platform to organize my pedals and to streamline the power supplies. The board works fine to accommodate my pedals on it's surface, keeping them in one place, but I think falls short on the power end. It's power supply supports up to 500Ma and when I added up the draws for my pedals I was way over. A couple needed 200Ma or 500Ma. It seems that any device that processes a lot needs more. My solution was to Velcro a secondary AC power strip on the board which kind of defeats the power objective. That's why I give it three stars. The service was fine and delivery was quite acceptable. Be aware of what your power needs are before you decide.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

There's nothing good about this board! You get what you pay for! Spend the extra bucks and get a better board. The power supply in this thing will not work for anything. I plugged in just one peddle that is normally quiet and it was extremely buzzy and noisy. I returned it!

If you are looking at getting a FIRST pedalboard and are on a BUDGET, get this one. For one, you don't have to buy a seperate power supply. Powered pedalboard that holds 8 of your pedals for around $100? This is a great investment for a beginner/intermediate guitarist looking to purchase their first couple of pedals and put it on a board with no hassle. PERFECT price to along with the product, you get what you pay for. Been playing 7 years with all genres of music.

    By Tom

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

This is a great pedalboard. It is much tougher than I thought it would be, but what else would you expect from SBK. I have one of their guitar cases too and it is great as well. You can't go wrong with this pedalboard. Well worth the money. I currently have have a crybaby, tube king, and two Boss pedals on there and I have plenty of room left. I could probaly fit another 2-3 boss pedals on there depending on how I would place them.

Good starting pedal board for the money, useless power supply.

    By Tyler Ulmer

    from Reading, PA

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

I started playing live gigs two years ago and I needed an affordable pedal board and went with this. The actual board is make of some pretty tough and durable plastic and the carpet type material sticks well to pedals. I do not use a lot of pedals myself, but if someone does I'm sure there is plenty of space on this. Now the really bad is the worthless AC adapter. The cord itself is too short so it makes it a hassle to find a spot on stage for it. Also they are faulty beyond belief. In the first year I had this I went through three AC adapters. Thankfully its covered under warranty so you can get one sent out for free but its still a massive pain. The bag it comes with is a good for storing the board and a few cables. I never once tried to haul pedals in it, it looks too weak and its already ripping in a spot. Overall, if your taking that step for gigging for the first time and need a board that won't break you financially, the PS8 is a start. If your more experienced or want something bigger go elsewhere.

Comments about SKB PS-8 8-Port 9VDC Powered Pedal Board:

Working so far, but the Cry baby Wah pedal doesn't velcro down due to the rubber screw stoppers on bottom. I just put it on top. It's a little cramped, and you need to use 90 degree angle short patch cords. Also, silly that the manufacturer sends such long power cords based on the small size of the board. You have to keep them wired up to prevent tons of cord from lying around. The board itself has some play in it, feeling like your'e stepping on a loose floor board and it might break. We'll see, it was pretty cheap all in all.
