  • Awesome Midi Guitar Controller

As reviewed by O'Keef on 1/12/2010

This thing is awesome! I just got it working in my Dean VX and now I have midi notes and controller information from my guitar!!! I have been waiting for this kit for 10 years and it is wonderful!! A couple words of warning. The Roland ready midi guitar is a Fender Stratocaster FOR A REASON! The Roland and Fender techs are geniuses pure and simple. You better REALLY want this pickup because it is PERMANENT. You will butcher your guitar to put it on. You must also have a good, straight neck with low action and a very good adjustable bridge. The pickup's proper function requires the strings to be very close to each pickup pole. Much closer than a regular pickup. It also is not a big fan of fret buzz. Lastly, tuning, fret fingering and string picking are all very critical. Since you are playing a synth with a guitar, middle "c" is just that. If your technique is sloppy, the midi controller will broadcast all your slop. It will NOT clean up improper technique. It will tolerate finger picking, tapping, hammeron/pulloff, slide, palm muting, etc. You just have to be very clean and clear when doing it.

  • This pick-up works well.

As reviewed by Reggie Hiller on 9/4/2010

Have a guitar tech to install. This is a good reto for a guitar your planning on keeping, if you like synths. I just use the synth at home( vg-99 ). I don't know if I will use it live. I do love the tube amp sound. I think this stimulates the time at home on the guitar. The only pick-up to get I think is the fixed installed version.
