From programmable rhythm machines and tape echo units to some of the most popular (and powerful) synthesizers ever made, for over 40 years the Roland Corporation has been a major manufacturer of gear for almost every style and genre of music. Founded in 1972 by Ikutaro Kakehashi, Roland has created some of the most iconic music gear of the past 40 years, from the Space Echo, Jazz Chorus amplifier and Jupiter 8 to the Fantom series of workstations and V-Drum and V-Guitar systems, Roland has consistently created technology that expands the world of musical expression.

As one of the principal contributors to development of the MIDI standard, Roland has always taken their position as an industry leader seriously with a commitment to developing new technologies and standards for the benefit of the musical community, as well as being strongly committed to environmentally consciousness manufacturing, reflecting a concern for the larger community as well. With the acquisition of Cakewalk and the Sonar family of DAW software in 2008, Roland products offer a virtual "one-stop shop" for digital audio and recording, as they continue to develop new, innovative products for musicians.
