Comments about Remo Powerstroke Pro Bass Drumhead Ebony:

Like a previous reviewer, I wanted an ebony head so I could put a light in my kick without it shining through the back. I put the head on a 24" Gretsch mahogany kick with two small hand towels inside and a Remo FiberSkyn on the front with a 6" hole cut into it. My band plays rock/alternative/hard rock so I use the plastic side of DW beaters and the kick sounded great. After about seven or eight practices and one or two shows, the foam strip starting falling off so i taped it on with black duct tape and it still sounded really good. As a huge fan of Remo products, I assumed it was just a defective head. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so I bought another one almost a year later and the same thing happened after just three or four practices. Very disappointing. Unless Remo announces that they will start applying the foam strip with super glue, do not buy this head.

Comments about Remo Powerstroke Pro Bass Drumhead Ebony:

I was looking for something like an EMAD, but with an ebony finish. I have LED lights in my bass and didn't want them to shine through the back of the kit. This head looks great, but sounds terrible. I put it on a Pearl Masters MCX. I switched to an EMAD 2 clear and it sounds incredible. The Powerstroke Pro ebony is too thick, causing an awkward response to the beater. It needs a thicker dampening ring (like the EMAD provides) for a lower tone. Resonant side sounds decent, but batter side sounds like a slap against plastic.

    Very Disappointed Remo...

Comments about Remo Powerstroke Pro Bass Drumhead Ebony:

I cann't believe how bad this new head turned out... This was supposed to be a step up from the P3, i was expecting more low end and control with the foam strip. Its like 5 steps down from the Powerstroke 3. It has a very sharp hit as well. Not much low end at all. It feels dead when you play it, light, "play-do". If i were to describe the head, i would say its a wana-be-Emad. It had no sound control and sounds like a pedal hitting a wooden plank. I'm hoping Remo will come out with something else to make up for this bass head... I'm very disappointed.

Best Bass-drum head ever. Just installed the batters and resonant heads with 5" Port on 2, 24 inch bass drums. no pillows, towels or other damping/muffling. great pro sound. I will never use anything else again.

      Best bass head ever

      By Trey Perry

      from Alabama

Comments about Remo Powerstroke Pro Bass Drumhead Ebony:

This the best drumhead i have ever seen. I got it for a christmas present and it turned my cheap little bass drum into an actual musical instrument. The look is fantastic and it works together EXTREMELY well with the non ported PS3. My bass drum sounds like a pearl reference (and yes i have compared the two). A little pricey but worth absolutely every penny, dont waste your money on any other head! buy NOW!
