I like Z stands because they have room for pedals underneath and are totally adjustable for hight and width. What I don't like is assembly, but I had an idea that works great. Since I plan on only using this with my Nord Electro 4D, I set it up for hight and width, then I cut the cross tubes in half allowing a 4" overlap on the inner tube to pass through the cut point. I then riveted the two halves of the outer tubes together with strap hinges. When I set the stand up or take it down I only have to loosen the two lock knobs on the cross tube, pull/push the halves to their location, and tighten the knobs up. The vertical bar on the cross tube makes a perfect handle for transport. I like it.

This is very good stand. I am 6'1" and it's highest setting is perfect for me to play standing. It is sturdy and takes up minimum space. I really like that not only is the height adjustable, but the width, and both separately. I upgraded my popular "X-Type" stand and have no regrets.
However, two issues. Initial assembly was not easy. The parts did not slide together as they should. I had to use pliers and even a hammer to get everything in position and secure. Once there it was great - but should not have been that difficult. Maybe some of the metal channels get bent in shipment, but as hard as it was to widen I seriously doubt that. It is high-quality steel.
My biggest complaint is the bottom and top legs lock into the performance position, but not when folded down for transport. This is very annoying. You pick up to put in your car, or are walking through a door, and a leg falls down and is now sticking out. Or two of them. Bam! Two cheap-o bungee cords wrapped around each end will take care of that, but just something else to have to deal with at a gig. Really needs a design upgrade there for musicians transporting on a regular basis.
But still a huge improvement over the X-stand and don't regret the purchase.

Comments about Proline PL700Z Folding Z Keyboard Stand:

Horrible, most of the hardware either strpied out broke. The welds that hold the nuts for the knibs broke in a month. It's extremely unstable to the point to were you can't put a board on the top with out one being on the bottom of it will top over, seriously, it will go over! I now have multiple bolts in random spots just to make it work.

Comments about Proline PL700Z Folding Z Keyboard Stand:

Stand is difficult to deal with and my particular one was not manufactured correctly. I could not line up the holes to put it together. I imagine this type of stand would be great if it was being set up once in somebody's house or studio but for a playing musician its WAY to clumsy, time consuming to deal with

Pros: Easy to assemble; Great stand for keyboards when adjustments are not necessary.
Cons: Once the knobs are broken or the threads become stripped, good luck in finding the replacement parts. Can't find the knobs any where

              Super Strong stand

              By Brooks Reid

              from Miami, FL

Comments about Proline PL700Z Folding Z Keyboard Stand:

I bought this stand to support a large speaker cabinet for live shows. It works great and is very strong. I would have no reservations about putting most anything on this stand. The Z design is not for everyone but I prefer it. I've used it for all kind of things including keyboards, tables (with a piece of wood on top) a saw horse, etc. I keep finding more and more uses for it. The only thing I can say that is not positive is that it does not stay in the folded position very well. Legs tend to fall down when you carry it. A bag would be a good idea to keep it bundled up or just some bungie cord wrapped around it for storage. Also I added some Home Depot rubber weather striping to the top support bars to cushion, hold and protect my keyboards from getting scratched. I also bought the optional arms to add a second keyboard. I supported 2 keyboards fine. The price is right in fact I'm buying another one.

Comments about Proline PL700Z Folding Z Keyboard Stand:

I'm thinking of adding more grip positions, since my keyboard is smaller, 61 keys, and doesn't contact all 4 points. It's so new I haven't traveled with it yet.

Comments about Proline PL700Z Folding Z Keyboard Stand:

I felt I should review this stand since the first two reviewers were very negative about it. I use mine only in the studio, so I haven't torn it down more than once. The knobs and threads worked fine for me. The stand seems quite sturdy, and I have a very heavy Kurzweil K2500 on it. This keyboard weighs about 70 pounds and the stand doesn't move! I got this on sale for $65 and it was well worth it. It probably isn't for heavy road use but it is sturdy and reliable.
